Position: Spring 2025 Unpaid Fieldwork Placement for EmblemHealth 1115 Waiver Implementation

Program description: EmblemHealth is a nonprofit, mission-based health plan headquartered in New York City serving 2 million New Yorkers. We are committed to improving access to high-quality, affordable coverage for our members and the communities we serve.  New York State Department of Health’s new 1115 Medicaid Waiver aims to enhance delivery of social care services for Medicaid members through the creation of Social Care Networks (SCNs) that will coordinate community-based organizations, providers, health plans, and other health partners to improve services for Medicaid members. Health plans will need to create new systems to work with SCNs, including developing systems for data sharing and tracking key metrics. This role would support EmblemHealth in participation in the 1115 waiver and contribute to improving care and outcomes for Medicaid members.

Fieldwork Position Overview: 
This role will support the AVP of Medicaid Product Strategy and help ensure that the team meets greater program goals and deliverables in a timely and effective manner. The position’s responsibilities encompass becoming an expert in the NYS Medicaid 1115 Waiver and SCN operations and creating metric dashboards to monitor performance.

This is a fieldwork position, totaling 180 hours from January - June 2025. (~10 hours/week) The mode of work for this position will be remote. The position will conclude at the close of the CUNY SPH spring semester.  

EmblemHealth 1115 Waiver Implementation Intern Fieldwork Responsibilities: 
•    Review and summarize SCN data sharing opportunities
•    Access SCN IT platforms and claims reports to identify available data
•    Identify metrics to monitor SCN engagement and outcomes
•    Identify metrics to monitor utilization of engaged Medicaid members
•    Create a monthly dashboard for tracking and visualizing key metrics 

Qualifications: 
•    Student at CUNY SPH in good academic standing
•    Excellent organizational and project management skills
•    Experience summarizing, analyzing, and visualizing data
