Job Description:
Under general direction of a lead worker or supervision by departmental administrator or Building Services Manager, performs duties to provide care, cleaning & maintenance of building, furniture & fixtures.
+ Adheres to all OSHA , CDC and/or Ohio University required safety guidelines;
+ Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes, polishes and renews floor surfaces;
+ Cleans and shampoos rugs and carpets;
+ Washes walls; cleans, dusts and waxes furniture and fixtures following either Level 1 or Level 2 clean/sanitize/disinfect guidelines as directed***;
+ Cleans glass and mirrors;
+ Cleans and empties trash receptacles;
+ May remove and hang drapes;
+ Removes snow and ice from walkways and entrance areas;
+ Reports need for equipment repair;
+ Reports evidence of fire, illegal entry and theft of property;
+ Checks in supplies; stocks supply areas;
+ May assist in washing and sanitizing dishes, glassware, utensils, pots & pans;
+ Cleans and sanitizes bathroom fixtures & drinking fountains;
+ Operates dish machine/pot washer to clean and sanitize dishes, glasses, pans, etc.
+ Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
+ Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in sanitation and safety areas of dining, residential, academic and administrative units;
+ Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, and pictorial form;
+ Ability to work independently or with others;
+ Demonstrate willingness to work with diverse populations;
+ Ability to read and write common vocabulary in sentence structure;
+ Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, calculate fractions, decimals and percentages;
+ Ability to apply principles to solve practical problems;
+ Ability to demonstrate dexterity and skill in use of craft-associated hand and/or power tools and equipment;
+ Ability to mix cleaning compounds and follow safety procedures;
+ Ability to lift up to 50 pounds;
+ Ability to effectively use a 15 foot ladder;
+ An established pattern of good work habits and performance with good interpersonal skills.
Training & Experience:
+ May require valid driver’s license;
+ Completion of a test may be required.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
+ May climb ladders;
+ May be exposed to extreme temperatures;
+ May be exposed to dirt, grease, odors, cramped conditions, extreme hot or cold temperatures, heights, and electrical hazards;
+ May be exposed to dangerous machinery
+ During Level 2 working conditions will be required to wear designated PPE up to and including full body suit, appropriate mask, etc.*

Preferred Qualifications:
+ Knowledge of custodial safety practices**
+ Skill in operation of cleaning equipment** (electric scrubbers, buffers & vacuum cleaners)
+ Knowledge of all applicable OSHA and/or Ohio University safety guidelines and procedures**
