Brief Description:
The Custodian is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the appearance of the shop, parking lots, and common areas at the manufacturing plant. This role ensures a clean, safe, and organized environment for all employees by performing a variety of cleaning and light maintenance tasks in compliance with company safety and quality standards.
Detailed Description:
Perform cleaning duties in the shop, breakroom, locker room, and surrounding areas. Sweep and mop common areas, disposing of mop water per safety policies. Operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuums, and pressure washers. Clean and sanitize surfaces, equipment, and high-touch areas to ensure a hygienic work environment. Restock supplies in restrooms, breakrooms, and cleaning stations. Qualify for a forklift license to haul hazardous materials per safety policies. Maintain the exterior cleanliness of the building by picking up trash and debris and disposing of them properly. Adhere to all company safety protocols and standards while performing cleaning tasks. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling cleaning chemicals and equipment. Identify and report potential hazards, such as spills, leaks, or damaged equipment, to the appropriate personnel. Assist office employees with minor maintenance issues as needed.
Job Requirements:
Ability to operate cleaning equipment and follow cleaning protocols. Basic knowledge of cleaning products and equipment usage. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time. Physical stamina and strength to perform cleaning tasks and handle equipment. Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work environment. Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs., and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and walking for extended periods.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in custodial or janitorial work in an industrial or office environment.
Additional Details:
The Custodian must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others including coworkers and third parties. The typical work environment will be in the shop which will require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals, and airborne particles.
