Duties:
+ Clean Residence Hall public restrooms and shower rooms. approximately 60 to 70% of a custodians time should be spent thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing showers, sinks, toilets, urinals, walls, ceilings, floors, and all surfaces of the shared living facility restrooms and shower rooms.
+ Clean campus offices, meeting rooms, classrooms, lounges, hallways, entrances, stairwells, laundry rooms, and other assigned areas as required.
+ During winter months, maintain large sections of sidewalks and staircases between Centennial Hall and Prospector Hall. The Custodian assigned at Centennial Hall needs to shovel snow off these surfaces and scatter ice-melt to help keep these surface clean and clear of ice and snow buildup. This requires significant physical exertion and activity for up to an hour or so following recent snowfall events.
+ Have working knowledge of proper cleaning methods and procedures in a safe and efficient manner.
+ Maintain proper appearance of buildings to include entrances and exits, snow removal of sidewalks and staircases adjacent to buildings, and grounds clean-up around buildings.
+ Follow safe work practices and participate in safety and custodial training as required. Display proper knowledge, care, and use of cleaning products and supplies, and maintain equipment as required.
+ Be able to properly lift 50 - 80 pounds from ground level to a height of 4'-6" and be able to carry 30 pounds for a maximum distance of 30 feet.
+ Be capable of following oral and written instructions
+ Solve problems encountered during cleaning process.
+ Will work alone, and on occasion as part of a team.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned by manager.
+ Willingness to respond to campus outside of normal work hours and on weekends for emergency clean-ups or approved overtime.
WORKING SHIFT IS MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAYS, 6:00 AM TO 2:30 PM.
Required Qualifications:
+ Must be capable of following written and oral communications and solve problems during the cleaning process.
+ Must be physically capable of properly lifting 50 - 80 pounds from ground level to a height of 4'-6" and be able to carry 30 pounds for a maximum distance of 30 feet.
+ Must be physically capable of performing the duties of snow removal as descried here in: During winter months, maintain large sections of sidewalks and staircases between Centennial Hall and Prospector Hall. The Custodian assigned at Centennial Hall needs to shovel snow off these surfaces and scatter ice-melt to help keep these surface clean and clear of ice and snow buildup. Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience in institutional / commercial custodial work such as waxing floors, and cleaning carpets.
+ Working knowledge of proper cleaning methods, procedures and cleaning equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
+ Working knowledge and familiarity with Safety Data Sheets for all cleaning products used.
