Position Details Location Gulf Park 730 East Beach Boulevard Long Beach, Mississippi, 39560 United States Division GP Physical Plant Custodians Position Type Staff Employment Status Full Time Grant Funded No Salary Range 12.71 - 12.71 Pay Grade N02 Posting Close Date Open until filled Job Summary This position cleans assigned buildings in a set period of time using proper methods and materials in cleaning and care for building areas and equipment. Participates in other areas of Physical Plant operations as directed. Aids supervisor with special events and projects. Primary Duties and Responsibilities + Responsible for cleaning assigned buildings, sweeps, mops and cleans floors; cleans white boards as directed; washes windows, walls, blinds, grills and glass doors; empties trash cans. Also perform sets up and cleans up after events. + Dusts general areas vacuums rooms, replenishes supplies and cleans drinking fountains and restrooms. Cleans and sweeps entrances, outside plazas and walks. + Assist in the maintenance and care of custodial and event services equipment and furnishing such as vacuum cleaners, buffing machines, pressure washers, tables, chairs, tents, podiums and other related equipment and furnishing as required. + This position will require participation in call-out responsibilities and may require night shift responsibilities, and weekend work. Performs additional duties as assigned. + Reports damaged structures and equipment to supervisor. + Serves as a member of the Physical Plant Essential Personnel and as directed by the Director of Physical Plant participates in pre-emergency preparations and post emergency recovery efforts. + Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or general education degree. Three years custodial or related experience. Driver's License required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities + Ability to read and understand instruction manuals and chemical labels. + Ability to communicate with a diverse group of people. + Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. + Ability to operate carpet extraction machines, automatic floor scrubbers, buffers and burnishers. + Ability to perform hard floor care to include applying and removing stripper and applying multiple coats of floor wax. + Ability to work nights and weekends when required. + Ability to understand differences in cleaning chemicals. + Ability to work independently. + Ability to attend education and training programs as appropriate to increase awareness and understanding. Preferred Qualifications 5 years custodial or related experience. Floor care equipment experience.
