Position Summary:
The custodian II will provide routine housekeeping duties including but not limited to floor work, pressure washing, removal of heavy trash, window cleaning, etc. in an assigned area. The custodian II is responsible for maintenance of flooring throughout the residential colleges and the college master houses including buffing, stripping, and sealing of hard surfaces and shampooing of carpets. The custodian II also assists with movement of furniture and minor maintenance assignments. This individual may lock and unlock assigned buildings and secure building when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows, reports any unauthorized occupants, and turn off lights.
This position is considered essential during a campus emergency. The incumbent in this position is expected to report to campus, provide the essential services designated and work under the overall direction of the Crisis Management Team for the duration of a campus emergency.

The ideal candidate has experience working in a team environment. H/She should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment managing multiple tasks and should have at least one year floor care experience.
Workplace Requirements:

Work Environment: Combined indoor/outdoor work environment in a variety of university settings which may include offices, food serveries, and residential facilities. May be exposed to temperature extremes in facilities that are not climate controlled. May be required to work in restricted spaces. Work Hazards: Work hazards include exposure to toxic and caustic chemicals. Some work may occur at heightened elevations on ladders or scaffolding, or in wet areas. Work Schedule: Work schedule will alternate between 11:00am - 7:30pm and 7:00am - 3:30pm. Weekly schedule will vary and will include working on weekends and holidays - Must be available to work any shift required. Overtime may be required in May through August.Physical Demands
Moderate to heavy physical activity, which includes the ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs., bend, stoop, climb, balance stand, and walk up to 8 hours a day. Other physical requirements of the job include the ability to bend/crouch/or kneel, lift, see, reach, climb, and balance.“This role is classified as an essential position, requiring on-site presence to effectively carry out its vital functions.”
Hiring Range: $15.72 per hour+
*Non-Exempt (hourly) positions under FLSA are eligible for overtime.
