The Taggart Student Center at Utah State University is seeking applicants for a full-time Custodian (Facilities Service Representative II) position. Incumbents in the Facilities Service Representative series clean and maintain building areas to maximize a healthy, safe, pleasant, and functional environment. Incumbents work as a member of a team to complete tasks.

Work hours for this position are 5:00 pm - 1:00 am.

Responsibilities Removes debris from trash receptacles and keeps liners and receptacles clean.Assists in recycling program.Cleans restrooms.Vacuums and extracts carpets.Sweeps, mops, and scrubs floors.Strips and waxes floors.Assists in maintaining adequate stock of cleaning supplies.Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.Cleans snow and debris from sidewalks.Directs and supervises part-time custodial staff.Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.Provide guests, customers, students, and employees with directions, general information, and assistance, as requested.Practice and promote continuous improvement of environmental, and safety practices.Follow and initiate all building procedures in the event of an injury, emergency, or evacuation.Follow all building policies and procedures as identified in the Taggart Student Center Policy Manual.Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:

One year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education plus experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to receive regular direction and coaching from a supervisor or manager.Ability to learn through training, observation and hands-on experience.Ability to perform tasks without close supervision.Knowledge of proper cleaning methods, standards, supplies, and equipment.Ability to operate custodial equipment, such as vacuums, carpet extractors, etc.Ability to understand chemical cleaning application and methods.Ability to be detail oriented and resolve conflicts effectively.Ability to reflect a positive Utah State University image and act professionally with coworkers and customers.Ability to understand and follow safety procedures. Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. This position requires moderate physical activity, including the handling of objects up to 25 pounds and/or standing or walking more than one hour per day.
