Customer Account Intern

What You’ll Do:

The Summer Internship Program at U.S. Xpress provides students with developmental training, mentorship, and networking opportunities in addition to hands-on experience. As an Account Management intern, you will assist account managers in managing their day-to-day activities and operations including maintaining and further developing relationships with existing customers and warehouses and scheduling or rescheduling pickup and delivery appointments.

·         Duties may include:

o    Providing necessary information to internal departments in order to meet service parameters required by the customer

o    Providing customers with status updates and excellent customer service

o    Building loads and/or setting appointments within internal systems; and ensuring all necessary information is accurate

o    Communicating with internal and external groups, especially on high priority loads and customers

o    Proactively providing tracking updates to customers, shippers and receivers

o    Prioritizing tracking and appointment setting based on time constraints and customer priority 

o    Conducting customer interactions via email and phone contact

o    Building and maintaining customer relationships, and improving customer retention

o    Acquiring, understanding, and documenting each customer’s needs, special services, and requirements

o    Assisting customers with any special needs (trailer type, bracing, pads, etc.)

o    Providing logistics and asset business units with all information needed to properly execute load plans, as determined by the customer, to ensure proper customer service is provided

o    Managing all unplanned accessorial charge issues related to the customer and related warehouses

o    Representing our customer when working with contracted carriers

o    Identifying and communicating ways USX can continuously improve in its operations

o    Other duties as assigned
