Responsible for a variety of activities associated with the installation and maintenance of distribution and transmission pipelines to include directing crew members. Dimensions: Principal Accountabilities: + Performs a variety of activities as Lead: + Coordinates work to be performed at the job site + Ensures safety procedures are followed + Ensures equipment and materials are operational and available to perform tasks + Prepare and submit reports + Inspects work of contractors + Demonstrates proper procedures to crew members + Performs a variety of activities as working member of the Utility crew: + Displays the proper caution and traffic control signs + Locates line leaks and performs repairs + Performs tasks associated with annual valve survey and maintenance programs + Performs leak surveys + Fuse plastic pipe + Purge pipelines + Install leak clamps + Change stop-cocks + Performs related functions to include: + Call-out for emergencies + Other duties as assigned and required Basic Qualifications: + Must possess a high school diploma or a GED Additional Preferred Qualifications + Mechanical aptitude + Basic math skills + Effective communication and interpersonal skills + Safety awareness + Commercial driver’s license (CDL) + Previous related experience required. Working Conditions: + Field Mobility Classification - Work will be performed in various field locations, as needed, after the onboarding period. However, field employees are required to live within a reasonable daily commute to their assigned work location. + Must work outdoors in adverse weather conditions; flexible work schedule; lifting up to 100 lbs; frequent bending, stooping, standing, digging, climbing; long periods of walking and standing; works on uneven terrain, many times with heavy vegetation; manual dexterity (hand/eye coordination); keen eyesight; good hearing; good sense of smell; comes in frequent contact with insects and animals.
