As a Customs Brokerage Supervisor, you will oversee a small team of Entry Writers, playing a key role in the operations of the Brokerage Department. A successful candidate will be adept at managing multiple tasks and prioritizing work effectively to meet deadlines. We are seeking someone with prior experience in customs classification and filings, as well as a background in a mentorship or leadership position. A solid understanding of customs brokerage, including cargo classification and scheduling with U.S. Customs, is essential.
Requirements:
Minimum 4 years' experience in an Entry Writer or similar U.S. Customs Brokerage role required.Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role is preferred.Experience valuating and classifying cargo from commercial documents, and scheduling cargo with U.S. Customs.Current knowledge of the General Rules of Interpretation, HTSUS, and binding rulings.Previous experience using the ERP system, CargoWise One, is preferred.Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.Responsibilities:Prepare customs entries for all import shipments to be submitted to and released from U.S. Customs in a timely manner.Ensure that all entries are properly classified by using tools such as company profiles, CROSS (Customs Rulings Online Search System), internet and communicating with the importer on record.Create invoices for duty and entry charges to be sent to the Accounting Department for billing.Develop and maintain customer profiles based on the customer’s shipment history. Coordinate with customers to classify new commodities according to HTS.Answer any Brokerage-related inquiries internally and externally.Assist with compliance matters including; verifying power of attorney, conducting in-depth research and development of classification.Support the Sales Department to help increase Brokerage sales by joining sales calls and educating customers on Brokerage operations.Ensure that daily statements are paid to U.S. Customs in a timely manner.Oversee interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.Salary:$65,000 - $75,000/year dependent on transferable experience and education level.Benefits:Hybrid work schedule (1-day a week working from home); laptop provided by OEC Group.10-days PTO (Paid Time Off), Employee Appreciation Days, Paid Holidays, Sick/Flex time.Full Health Insurance coverage including medical, dental, vision, term life, and accident insurance.401K retirement plan with 3% company match.Discounted pet insurance - woof! woof! meow!Annual performance bonus and mid-year reviews for salary increases.Education:Associate degree or higher is preferred.Certifications:U.S. Customs Brokerage license preferred.
