Job Description/ResponsibilitiesCustoms Compliance Coordinator is responsible for overseeing customs procedures, generating and auditing TTB (Tax and Trade Bureau) documents for import/export transactions, and supporting compliance-related activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of customs regulations, including the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), and proven experience in process improvement. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in Microsoft tools (including Power BI), and the ability to effectively support new projects and train team members are essential to the success of this position.
Key Responsibilities:
Import & Export Compliance:Process and audit the customs compliance for both import and export activities.Audit for the accurate filing of all necessary documentation and tariffs for shipments.Review and process invoices, shipping documents, and other related import/export paperwork.Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to all applicable customs regulations and compliance standards.Work with external Customs brokers on entry activity and duty drawback filingsTTB Documentation:Generate, review, and audit TTB documents (5100.11 & 5110.30) for export and (6001-gauge forms) import transactions, ensuring all filings are correct and meet government regulations.Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Free Trade Agreements (FTAs):Maintain a strong knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) to ensure proper tariff classification for products.Analyze and apply relevant Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) to ensure that the company and our customers benefit from preferential duties and reduced tariffs when applicable.Data Analysis and Reporting:Utilize Microsoft tools, including Power BI, to analyze customs data, prepare reports, and identify trends or compliance risks.Prepare detailed compliance reports to provide KPI analysis and identify potential issues.Process Improvement & Optimization:Identify areas for process improvements within the import/export and customs compliance function.Develop and implement procedures and best practices to ensure efficiency and adherence to regulatory requirements.Training & Development:Assist in the onboarding and training of new team members, ensuring they understand customs compliance procedures and tools.Provide ongoing guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members on compliance processes and technical matters.Project Assistance:Contribute to new projects as needed, including system upgrades, process automation, and other strategic initiatives aimed at improving compliance and operational efficiency. Qualifications/RequirementsPreferred Qualifications:
Education:Bachelor’s degree Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Customs Specialist) are a plus.Experience:Minimum 2 years of experience in customs compliance, preferably in both import and export functions.Understanding of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), and customs regulations.Experience with TTB documentation, customs declarations, and compliance reporting.Experience working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on continuous process improvement.Certification in Customs Compliance or related areas (e.g., Certified Customs Specialist, Global Trade Professional).Knowledge of trade management software and ERP systems.Skills:Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and present actionable insights.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Power BI for data analysis and reporting.Exceptional planning and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.Strong computer skills and quick adaptability to new tools and systems.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with internal teams, external partners, and regulatory bodies.Additional Attributes:Quick learner, able to adapt to changing regulations and industry best practices.Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.Ability to work independently and in a team environment.Strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Working Conditions:
