Wärtsilä North America is seeking a Customs Compliance Coordinator to coordinate customs-related operations in the US. The incumbent will support the Global Customs Management team by ensuring customs compliance according to applicable laws, rules, and regulations. This role serves as a subject matter expert in customs compliance, providing interpretation, guidance, integration, compliance, and assessment. Additionally, the incumbent will support efforts to execute a customs-compliant supply chain, coordinate related supply chain risk assessment and mitigation strategies, and ensure proactive monitoring and communication on the impact of customs compliance and changing regulations to all key stakeholders.
 
In this position, you will be responsible for:

Being a contact in customs matters locally to stakeholders. Relationship with authorities such as local customs. Following up and coordinating customs clearances, incl. brokerage management. Identifying local value-added opportunities, minimize compliance risks and minimize (import) duties, the use of simplified entry procedures and local clearance authorizations. Ensuring the integration of necessary customs compliance work activities into day-to-day activities. Monitoring inbound transportation.

 
We hope you have:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field is preferred Minimum of two years of work experience with freight orders forwarders, customs brokers, or a related business activity. Must be able to read regulations, act upon them and advise upon them. Good understanding of the global customs compliance environment. Willingness to solve problems. Team player with strong customer service attitude with the ability to work also effectively independently. Experience in working within a global and multi-cultural environment. Fluent written and spoken English with good presentation and communication skills. Experience with PowerQuery, PowerAutomate, a plus. Understanding of the harmonized classification system.
