Customs & Foreign Trade Asst. Manager

Objectives of the Position:

 

To support import export and customs manager and supply chain head in supervising customs and foreign trade operations for IndonesiaTo ensure of compliance with regards to customs and foreign trade, statutory and regulatory requirements and adherence to company policies, and guidelineTo perform customs operations for assigned legal entities including and not limited to duty optimization, trade control activities, local customs engagement, business process management, escalation and resolution of issues, support audits / inspections / authority & stakeholder inquiries and customs regulation communication    

 

Main Tasks: 

Responsible as customs service caretaker for assigned countries (legal entities) customs process, protocols and requirements which will ensure license to operate. Support IE and customs manager in supervising and coordinating customs & foreign trade team in country. Collaborate with hub customs and compliance team, local and regional customs and supply chain community Ensure optimization of preferential exemption via free trade agreement jointly with hub preferential management team. Manage issue / dispute resolution and bridging communication with local authorities Ensure trade control bound by relevant regulations, for inbound and outbound deliveries are in place, in order for business continuity and compliance to international and local requirementsSupport to optimizing and monitoring customs duty processing through applicable customs procedures. Responsible for monitoring declaration to duty payment via established process with finance and regional customs operations guidelines. Ensure adequacy of information and accuracy of declarations as 1st level approver for customs duty payment in Indonesia   Provide country service requirements for customs brokerage activities. To monitor performance of customs brokers in lieu with service requirements and review & request reporting as provided by customs brokers. To lead and coordinate nonconformance management of logistics service providers (LLP, customs brokers) on customs and trade related gaps and manage continuous improvement on customs brokerage activitiesTo collaborate with hub classification team for new/changes of HS tariff code and support custom dispute, communication with business units when any impact to the business. To provide local advice for related custom enquiry/ information update pertaining classification and customs disputes and ensure adequate record and document management on deviations, disputes and arbitration (if any) Respond to and manage BASF and local authority audits in relation to customs and foreign trade topics. Provide requested information by competent authorities. Communicate and create awareness to internal partners about all operational foreign trade aspects. Ensure all the related service, process and documentation is in compliance with government & country-specific legal laws and regulations.

 

Job Requirements: 

 

Education: Degree or above in international trade, logistics, supply chain or business management and equivalent. Advanced diploma to be considered for candidates with more years of experience in customs and international trade  Working Experience: Min 3 - 4 years of work experience in the customs and international trade supply chain position  Experienced with customs engagement and company representative for communication with customs and local authorities on topics relevant to customs and foreign trade  Knowledge in custom topics and processes in relation to preferential management, trade facilities (bonded, free zone, AEO), custom and trade procedures and formalities, duty/tax topics to ensure compliance, business continuity and optimum duty impact Participation in customs / industry association added advantage to ensure customs changes, updates is being updated to management and be able to act pro-actively. Preferable with professional / authorized customs certification Working experience in chemical industry preferred though not mandatorTechnical & Professional Knowledge:

Good formal communication skill for communication with authorities, strong knowledge of compliance requirements from authorities, possess intercultural competence and exposure to international trading requirements.  

Proficient in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint; Expertise in customs laws and regulation incl. preferential treatment preferred; Experience in SAP or any ERP preferred
