A qualified CV Extruder Operator has knowledge of CV extruders and machine line accessory equipment, is capable of setting up and operating single or tandem equipment to insulate or jacket various types of stranded or solid conductors by the use of continuous vulcanization, working with technical instructions and general instructions. The operator understands and performs all tasks in conformance with posted instructions and required documentation. The operator is expected to detect faulty machine operation, defective material or process problems and communicate to the supervisor.Essential Duties:
Demonstrate a working knowledge of CV extruders, machine line equipment, including payoffs, takeups, traversing system, accumulator, capstans, hopper system, seal box use and also to set-up and operate printing equipment when needed. To have the knowledge of the use of water leg controller.To insure selection of proper materials for extrusion, to mount reels on payoff stands, to make water blocks when needed.Select compounds, dies, screens, breaker plates, color concentrates, correct capstan gears and seal size; print components as needed.Set up single or tandem extruding equipmentTo operate control panel and monitor during operation to insure correct water leg, steam pressure, heat temperatures, speeds, tension and diameters. Check and adjust for center, wall thickness and finish.Braze lengths and change payoff and takeup reels during run using accumulator to maintain continuous production run.Correctly tag completed material. Maintain proper production records and other required paperwork for workcenter, including length sheets and compound lot records.Perform various tasks needed for the operation and maintenance of extruding equipment - change dies, remove screws, install sterco water heater.Follow the manufacturing instruction sheet (MIT), the safety work practice summary, quality inspection check list.These are the general duties required to fulfill the CV Operator job description, not a detailed description of all work required.
