Technicians are responsible for scrubbing and monitoring procedures and operating diagnostic equipment. He/She may be required to alternate shifts, weekends, holidays, call, flexible hours, and overtime as necessary to ensure the delivery of quality patient care at assigned site(s). He/She works as part of a multidisciplinary team, serving on committees and/or task forces and participating in projects as needed/requested. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Verify patient identification and presence of appropriate signed informed procedural consent. Identify/review allergies and history of contrast reaction prior to all procedures by reviewing patient records and questioning the patient. Verify package integrity and expiration dates on all sterile supplies. Prepares patient and equipment for utilization of sterile technique. After procedure, prepares equipment/supplies for sterilization. Participate in the procedural timeout. Monitors and records all procedural data and maintains procedural event logs. Provides patient comfort while familiarizing him/her with the equipment and supplies needed for the procedure. Applies the necessary monitors and prepares access site(s) including the necessary sterile drapes. Verifies appropriate medications and/or contrast agents and dosages with nursing staff and physician. When scrubbing into a procedure, uses sterile and aseptic technique as required for infection prevention. Handles blood and bodily fluids per policy. Advocates for radiation safety and protection for self and coworkers. Wears personal radiation dosimeter and takes necessary precautions to limit/minimize patient and staff exposure. Documents fluoroscopy time and radiation doses and evaluates reports to determine if values are within established safety limits. Provides post-procedural care. Participates in Quality Assessment & Improvement. Performs all other duties as assigned. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Graduate of an accredited radiography program OR equivalent training/education program for required certification/licensure. CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE Board certified ARRT OR eligible to take boards (must be board certified within six (6) months of hire) OR Graduate of a Cardiac Intervention Program AND registered or registry eligible (must be registered within six (6) months of hire) AND ACLS required within six (6) months of hire (Rockford Only) AND PALS required within one (1) year of hire (Rockford Riverside Only) ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Passing the Driver’s License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring). Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check. Must be able to follow written/oral instructions. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must be able to participate in holiday and on-call rotations. WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
