Job Description

HII Mission Technologies Newport News Direct Support is seeking candidates to join our growing E25 Work Control Team supporting CVN 75 Mechanical Work Control. The selected candidate will support the upcoming RCOH for CVN 75. This position is not Hybrid or Remote and will support the project in Norfolk and Newport News Virginia.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

Provide expertise in the development, planning, and scheduling for WAFs, and work permits.

Develop, review and revise as required, the execution of Navy Work Authorization Forms (WAFs) and safety tagout documents and specifications to support efficient work execution.

Approve issue  WAFs and Work Permits for assigned systems.

Provides on-site resolution of related problems and technical issues to prevent delays and ensure the integrity, safe work and testing, and operation of responsible systems.

Develop Work Permits/WAF from Inspection Reports ensuring work to be accomplished is safely isolated and issued in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications AA or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years of related experience, or HS + 5 years related (DoD/USN) experience. Knowledge and experience with Work Control Processes( WAF/WORK PERMITS).    Understand and have experience with Ships Mechanical Systems, AFFF, Shore Steam, Plumbing Vents and Drains, CHT, A/C  and Chilled Water Systems Active DOD SECRET Security Clearance Prior US Navy experience with ESOMS/ETAG Tagout Systems Ability to read and interpret system drawings and diagrams to determine system isolations to support production work. Must be able to work in a team environment and be capable of performing ship checks on equipment as required. Preferred Requirements Prior US Navy Experience aboard NIMITZ Class Aircraft Carriers Prior US Navy Experience in Hull, Mechanical and Electrical Ratings Prior experience in a shipyard environment during overhaul. Physical Requirements Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the job. A waterfront office work environment is normally encountered.
