CWMD Modeling and Simulation Engineer

The Capital Area Division (CAD) of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) seeks to hire a CWMD Modeling and Simulation Engineer to provide technical and program management support to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) for Counter-WMD weapons and capabilities development. The successful candidate will provide technical guidance for research and development of counter-WMD weapons systems and enabling technologies and analytical tools to support predictive calculations. This position will support government program managers and teams with technical recommendations for effective application of inventory and developmental CWMD weapon systems applied to counter-WMD scenarios. The selected candidate will work closely with Army, Air Force and other military and government personnel to help define appropriate operational user requirements for related new technology and software development. The candidate will perform a variety of system engineering support/technical program management support functions to DTRA’s CWMD Weapons and Capabilities Division across a diverse portfolio of programs and activities.

Required Skills:

Master’s degree in physics, chemistry, mathematics, engineering or related technical subject 3-5 years of hands-on relevant experience Experience engaging US Warfighters, stakeholders and capability development partners to develop and document capability requirements Active Department of Defense Top Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI access Must be a US Citizen Ability to brief program managers, teams, and senior leaders on program support activities and status Modeling and simulation expertise with relevant WMD codes (e.g. IMEA, HPAC) Understanding of CBRN collateral effects Working knowledge of CBRN agents/simulants and their effects A working familiarity with target/WMD/weapon interaction

Preferred Qualifications:

D degree in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Engineering or related technical discipline. Background in environmental fate, atmospheric transport, or environmental engineering Reachback support to military and/or government agencies for counter-WMD and collateral effects with a minimum of 8 years of experience. Familiarity with weapon systems (operations, planning, testing, and evaluation) and military aircraft operations (air tactics, techniques, and procedures).  Experience in field testing, to include test planning and writing final technical reports in operational terms.
