The MITRE Expeditionary Department is seeking a dedicated cybersecurity engineer with a strong background in systems thinking and intelligence to join our team as a Marine Corps cybersecurity systems engineer. Our department is committed to delivering innovative concepts, technologies, and methodologies that ensure current and future Naval superiority. The ideal candidate will possess deep operational and domain knowledge of the Marine Corps, along with a comprehensive understanding of current and future naval domain operational visions, doctrines, and tactical employments in the context of US peer competitors. You will enjoy collaborating with diverse and geographically dispersed teams to tackle our sponsors’ most challenging questions regarding the application of emerging technologies to real-world operational cybersecurity issues.
This role requires innovative problem-solving skills, utilizing systems of systems engineering practices to make significant contributions across the enterprise and create strategic impact. The ideal candidate will be an advocate for cultural and organizational transformation in data analytics, machine learning technologies, and the influence of advanced cybersecurity measures such as encryption, intrusion detection systems, and secure communications on society, industry, and defense. You will work with diverse and geographically dispersed teams to address our sponsors' most pressing cybersecurity challenges, focusing on enhancing network security, threat detection, and incident response to protect critical naval assets and operations.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Qualified candidates will have a strong technical background in cyber operations, network communications, reverse engineering, embedded design/programming, or computer forensics analysis with demonstrated experience supporting the special operations, defense, or intelligence communities. Selected candidates will work closely with the team of experienced engineers at the MITRE Quantico location, as well as other mission partners across MITRE, in support of Marine Corps sponsors. Candidates must be able to work collaboratively, demonstrating strong teamwork and cooperation with MITRE, military, and civilian experts to address critical mission needs; provide options which anticipate operational needs; and identify relevant emerging methods that address Marine Corps mission challenges.
Selected candidates will demonstrate the following:
Domain/Technical Competence. Demonstrate familiarity with one or more of the following areas: (1) Cyber Operations (2) Special/Resilient Communications (3) Network Communications (4) Computer ScienceCollaboration. Engage and collaborate with engineers and planners, subject matter experts, specialists, and industry professionals.
