Position Summary:

The Cybersecurity Engineer will safeguard Cengage Group's infrastructure from both internal and external threats. Tasked with designing, developing, and implementing systems to detect and investigate suspicious activities, we seek diligent and inquisitive individuals to join our Cybersecurity Engineering team. As a vital part of the Cybersecurity Technology & Risk team, you will be responsible for analyzing and defending Cengage's applications, networks, servers, and end-user environments in various scenarios. This pivotal role ensures the protection of Cengage's customers, employees, brand, and data.    

What You'll Do Here:

Implement, maintain, and improve the company’s cybersecurity infrastructure

Collaborate with the Cybersecurity team to identify, analyze, and remediate potential security vulnerabilities and misconfigurations

Monitor and analyze security events from various sources, including cloud platforms, network devices, and security tools

Work closely with teams from different functions to ensure secure design and development of applications and systems

Continuous monitoring of emerging cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies, adapting strategies accordingly

Conduct risk assessments and security audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations

Provide support to our SOC for incident response and remediation efforts

Participate in an on-call rotation  

Performance Metrics:

Proficient in seamlessly integrating security tools on time and with minimal issues

Efficient resolution rate and timely closure of security-related defects impacting infrastructure

Ensure prompt completion of project-related tasks and proactively identify and resolve potential issues to avert escalation and adverse effects   

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

Basic (Required)

Basic understanding of cloud technologies, including AWS and Azure

Familiarity with network security and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) technologies

Validated expertise in deploying and maintaining a comprehensive suite of security measures to effectively address and mitigate enterprise risks

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks

Superb communication and collaboration skills, with a willingness to learn and grow in a dynamic environment  

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or equivalent experience

Relevant certifications, such as AWS Cloud Practitioner/Solutions Architect, Security+, Network+, CISSP

Familiarity with security frameworks and standards, such as, NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, GDPR, SOC2

Familiarity with Kubernetes environments and associated security controls

Experience with scripting languages, such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash, to automate tasks and analyze data

Proficiency in applying artificial intelligence (AI) to improve cybersecurity capabilities and efficiency.

Experience with penetration testing and ethical hacking techniques

Expertise in conveying security concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders (including executives) with the ability to influence and advocate for vital security measures

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location.  Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.
