Cymer is an independently operated business within the ASML group that develops, manufactures and services deep-ultraviolet (DUV) light sources. The product portfolio includes excimer lasers using argon fluoride (ArF) or krypton fluoride (KrF) gases to generate light in the deep-ultraviolet spectrum. These lasers generate the light that photolithography scanners use to image patterns on silicon wafers. The research, development and manufacturing of DUV light sources is centered in San Diego, U.S.A.

Role and responsibilities

Cymer Field Service Engineers (FSE) are responsible for the repair and maintenance of the Cymer systems at the customer site and are responsible for the necessary transfer of know-how to the customer. The FSE, is an ambassador for Cymer, and must be the first line of support for the repair and maintenance of the Cymer lasers. The FSE will interface with the customers, peers, Technical Support Engineers (TSE) onsite or remotely and assure timely and accurate support. The FSE must be able to provide our customer with a quality experience by utilizing planning, problem-solving and communication skills. Key is developing and maintaining an ongoing relationship of trust and reliability with customers and co-workers.

Primarily responsible for customer service activities associated with updating, troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing of highly complex capital equipment via telephone or at customer site.Representing the company to the customer and accountability for customer satisfaction with service.Assuring operational quality of system equipment. Coordinating actions with customers to minimize down time.Document your work and create accurate reports, accurately maintain/document time and works actionsMonitor system performance and proactively drive improvementWork in rotating 7x24 shift  pattern

Education and experience

Bachelor’s degree with a technical emphasis (Electronics,  Optics, Mechatronics, Physics).Technician / Associates Degree in an related technical field2 years of relevant work experience (We will consider new graduates provided they demonstrate a strong hands-on aptitude and a desire to succeed)Preferred experience in a cleanroom setting or in a 1st line support roleStrong hands-on and troubleshooting skillsAbility to understand and troubleshoot problems in software and electronics, optics, mechanical, electro-mechanical and electro-optical systems to address on site customer problems.Requires experience using the following software packages: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, LabView, Internet Protocol, and Computer Networking.

Skills

Excellent (English) written and verbal communications skills.Show ownership and responsibility, be proactive and drive for changesExcellent customer service skills, with a solid foundation in and an understanding of the importance of relationship building.Ability to facilitate resolution of technical challenges.Ability to apply knowledge of installation, maintenance/repair, and troubleshooting at both the module and system level, while seeking expertise of more senior field service engineers where required.Ability to read and analyze opto-mechanical and electronic schematics.Possess an international driving licenseFlexibility, possible support of other ASML sites requires ~20 % travel (pending on request)

Other information

The position is for a job based in Dresden, Germany, travel flexibility needed during the first 12-18 month for classroom training in the USA and On the Job Training outside of Dresden based on availability

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.).
