Job Title: Design Engineer
Job Description
The Design Engineer plays a crucial role in the design and evaluation of production processes for both new and existing products and systems, aiming to improve cost, performance, or facilitate manufacturing processes. Utilizing the fundamental principles of mechanical, electrical, industrial, and other engineering disciplines, the Design Engineer supports existing products in collaboration with the manufacturing and operations team to implement remedies, updates, or modifications. This role involves designing specialized fluid control components using computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) tools to meet customer requests and collaborating to generate assembly drawings, models, bills of materials, design analysis, reports, and procedures.
Responsibilities
+ Design fluid control components using CADD tools to meet customer specifications.
+ Collaborate with designers, suppliers, and other departmental assignees to gather technical information and develop design solutions.
+ Participate hands-on in the test laboratory and design validation activities as needed.
+ Work with Sales and Engineering management to develop technical specifications for fluid control devices.
+ Assist production and operations in manufacturing products as designed.
+ Perform engineering change requests to modify products or develop new designs.
+ Review customer Requests for Quote and specifications to develop preliminary design concepts.
+ Provide design layout, proposal drawings, and models for designers to layout.
+ Offer technical guidance in preparing technical proposals.
+ Check outputs from Designers and prepare necessary engineering calculations.
+ Conduct Finite Element Analysis and Computerized Fluid Dynamics analyses as required.
+ Perform experimental tasks to validate conceptual designs.
+ Address production problems and collaborate with department members on design issues.
+ Complete relevant documentation for procurement, fabrication, and testing.
+ Generate test and assembly procedures and reports for design verification.
+ Initiate requests for prototype fabrication and order special materials when needed.
+ Collaborate with other departments to ensure quality product realization.
+ Review non-conformance reports and manage material disposition according to Material Review Board process.
+ Prepare and deliver training as required.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in designing mechanical components or valves.
+ Proficiency in mathCAD, SolidWorks, and CADD.
+ Background in stress analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Ability to work closely with Sales and Engineering management.
+ Experience in developing technical specifications and proposals.
+ Capability to perform Finite Element Analysis and Computerized Fluid Dynamics.
Work Environment
The role is based in an office environment from Monday to Friday, with working hours from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, offering flexibility if needed. This is a salaried position with no overtime required.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.
