Responsibilities:
Performs all aspects of cytogenetics processing and analysis including sample set up, harvesting of samples, dropping and banding of slides for analysis, FISH slide preparation and probing, scanning slides (both FISH and chromosome) and analyzing these cells or nucleiAnalysis includes imaging and karyotyping of specimensSummarizes test results and write the karyotype or FISH nomenclatureMay also write case reports in preparation for director-level sign-outReviews test requisitions to gather pertinent information for culture set-up and case analysisIs able to distinguish between normal and abnormal test results and troubleshoots and improves lab proceduresIndependently performs lab tasks and projects (as approved) directed at education, developing new technologies or proceduresHelps cytogenetics technologist I get proficient at different lab tasks and check to make sure that they are performing to standardMaintains quality control recordsBayCare offers a competitive total reward package including:

Certification & Licensure:
Required - American Society for Clinical Pathology in Cytogenetics (ASCPCG)Required - Florida Clinical Cytogenetics License
Education:
Required - Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences or Related Field
Experience:
Required- 4 years of clinical cytogenetics experience in a CLIA certified laboratory.Highly Preferred: Proficiency in chromosome identification, FISH analysis, ISCN, and case review.
