Job Summary

Join Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, an affiliate of Mass General Brigham, as a Cytotechnologist and play a vital role in supporting patient care and advancing healthcare innovation. As part of our dedicated team, you will screen gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytologic material, ensure quality adherence through peer reviews, and maintain effective collaboration with pathologists.

This role includes specimen processing, participation in proficiency surveys, and compliance with federally mandated testing, all while adhering to department QA/QC standards. Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

Specimen Screening: Screens gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytologic material, reviewing atypical or abnormal specimens with pathologists.

Processing and Evaluation: Performs specimen processing of cytologic material according to Standard Operating Procedures as necessary.

Quality Assurance: Adheres to departmental QA/QC standards, including submitting a random 10% of negative gynecologic cases for peer review.

Collaboration: Maintains an effective working relationship with pathologists to ensure accurate results.

Compliance and Proficiency: Participates in proficiency surveys and successfully completes federally mandated annual proficiency testing (PT).

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or a science from an accredited school.

Must be CLIA eligible for High Complexity Testing.

Certification in Cytology, CT (ASCP or IAC).

Minimum of 3 years cytology experience preferred.
