Administrative responsibility for the planning, development, implementation, and administration of the fund development program of Decatur Memorial Foundation.  Builds greater public awareness, interest, community support and increased philanthropy for Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Board Governance and Committee Roles:

Attends Decatur Memorial Foundation Board of Directors meetings to provide recommendations as well as a quarterly report.May serve as Vice President/Secretary of the Foundation Board.

Education and/or Other Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree (or appropriate equivalent experience) with appropriate hospital or fund development experience.

Responsibilities In association with the Decatur Memorial Hospital President and Chief Executive Officer, plans, directs, and coordinates a development program to foster contribution to the Foundation.  In support of DMH, formulates, defines and recommends to the President and Board of Directors of the Decatur Memorial Foundation fund-raising goals and objectives which coordinates with the strategic goals of DMH Health System.Establishes procedures of identifying, researching, and cultivating prospective donors to the Foundation, including individuals, businesses, foundations, and others to generate new revenue funds.  Oversees Foundation and Hospital staff activities in soliciting prospective contributors.  Organizes groups for annual gifts, planned gifts, special campaigns, grant requests, and special events.Manages the Foundation development office.  Monitors maintenance of records, pledge files, and prospect files.  Ensures the gift accounting methodologies are sound and efficient and remain in an accurate and up-to-date manner. Supervises donor relations between Foundation and Hospital staff and volunteers.  Prepares proposals and grant requests and assists in their presentation.Ensures appropriate selection, training, and supervision of Hospital and Foundation staff.  Evaluates performance of staff and volunteers.  Ensures quality of service.  Reviews personnel actions, including pay increases, promotions, and disciplinary actions.Acts as primary communication vehicle between Foundation and President/Board of Directors.  Cooperates with Community Relations and Publications functions in order to ensure a positive image to the community.Coordinates Auxiliary fund-raising activities including shop operations and special sales.
