Job Summary:
A professional family in Chelsea is seeking an experienced, qualified, and firm English-speaking Governess to support their two children – a lively 8-year-old daughter and a 3-year-old daughter. The are looking for a Governess to work with the youngest child to help with learning and development and to help tutor her older sister. This is an opportunity to work with a close-knit family.

The eldest child is enrolled at a Prep School in Notting Hill, the youngest attend nursery in the day.

Job specification:
• Preparing for when the children come home from school
• Giving additional tutoring on Primary School Curriculum
• For the 8-Year-Old: Help with homework, tutoring, and discipline. Focus on encouraging concentration and academic progress.
• For the 3-Year-Old: Assist with learning and development, ensuring English language skills are nurtured and prepared for school.
• Manage school administration, including organising afterschool activities and encouraging independence.
• Supervise daily routines and prepare engaging, educational activities.
• Occasional tutoring for cousins too during school holidays.
• Travel with the family (accommodation provided during travel).

Candidate specification:
• English-speaking, with excellent language skills.
• Previous experience in a governess or similar role with similar aged children.
• Ability to work independently and take direction when needed.
• Traditional and Firm: You will need to be strong-willed, thick-skinned, and experienced in managing children with diverse needs.
• Educational Experience: Solid experience in child education, ideally with qualifications, and previous experience tutoring children of similar age.
• Firm, yet Fair: Someone who doesn’t “please” but earns respect through a structured, supportive approach.
• Comfortable with pets (dog and cat) and open to travel with the family during school holidays (summers in South of France, European ski trips in Easter, St Barths at Christmas).
• Experience working in a similar family environment, with a level-headed, discreet approach to the role.
• Willing to help plan and suggest activities for the children that foster learning and development.
