Job Summary:
A permanent daily Nanny role (35-37.5 hours spread across 4 days) in a lovely family with two young children (10 months and 3 years) in Queens Park. There is scope for additional hours during the holidays or babysitting (proxy parenting or evenings/weekends) if the candidate is interested.
The family are looking for a hard-working, motivated candidate who loves children and pets and who is looking to stay with a family for the long-term. The role would primarily be taking care of the baby during the day as the older child is at nursery five days per week and caring for both children during the holidays (taking the older child to playdates or holiday camps, trips to the park or organising crafts/baking at home for both children).
The candidate should be a confident cook, happy to prepare fresh and nutritious food for both children daily. The family have a full-time permanent housekeeper who works 4-5 days per week and is around to help with the children and food preparation if needed. The parents work from home often so the candidate would be happy working in a team.
The family are particularly hoping to find someone who is passionate about early years education who would support both children’s development through reading and educational activities at home, trips to the park and woodlands in all weather, organising and supervising playdates, imaginative play, crafts, baking, and outings to classes and museums. A confident driver with experience driving in London would be ideal (the family car would be used).
The family can offer additional hours if a candidate is interested (not required). Proxy parenting a few times a year at a weekend Possibility of travelling with the family very occasionally if mutually agreed There would also be the opportunity to gain additional hours through house / pet sitting while the family are away (up to 4 weeks a year). This would involve staying overnight and weekends at the property but flexibility to go out during the daytime. All typical childcare duties including preparing meals, bathing, reading, play and educational activities Take the child to their activities (e.g., swimming lessons, music classes, soft play, gym and football classes) Arrange and supervise play dates Arrange fun and engaging activities in the home (e.g., art and crafts, messy play, baking, water play) Arrange occasional trips out (e.g., to museums, zoo, soft play) Spend time outdoors in all weathers (in the garden, the park and woodlands) Stay on top of developmentally appropriate activities and changes to routine Nursery duties and housekeeping related to the child, washing and ironing baby clothes, keeping the nursery in order and stocked with nappies, towels. Keeping toys and books clean and in good order. Taking initiative to repair toys etc. Staying on top of school bags / nappy bags Cooking fresh and nutritious meals, some batch cooking. Some food prep for the family. Must like animals and be comfortable/confident with dogs. Very occasionally assisting with other children (cousins visiting or friends staying during holiday periods). Some very basic household support if/when there are no childcare duties to be done (such as loading/unloading dishwasher or vacuuming during nap timeCandidate specification:
Loving and patient Energetic with a strong work ethic Passionate about childcare Interested in early years education and a Montessori approach and supporting children to develop skills for independence. Would suit a former nursery practitioner for example Attentive to safety at home and when out and with a good understanding of first aid, childhood illnesses, safe food preparation for babies and toddlers etc A confident driver (with full clean drivers’ licence, happy to drive the family car for school drop off/pick up in bad weather) A competent cook, happy to cook nutritious, healthy, yummy food (including occasionally for the family as the family like to eat together a few times a week) Confident with pets (small dogs) Happy and confident to look after both children at once when needed Excellent command of English language and able to support with homework Proactive and takes initiative, e.g. to plan play dates or finding jobs that need doing
