Job Title: Dance Camp Counselor – Part Time & Seasonal
Reports To: Dance Coordinator
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Summary: With passion and dedication to excellence, the McFetridge Sports Center Dance Camp Counselor will create a friendly, fun, and open environment while ensuring all safety procedures and protocols for children of all ages. A camp counselor will supervise, educate, and lead children of all ages through different outdoor and indoor recreational activities at camp. Dance Camp Counselors will need dance experience in order to help facilitate classes and activities. The starting rate is $18/hr. Camps run on weekdays for half days between 6/16 – 6/27, 7/7 – 7/18, and 8/4 – 8/15.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads indoor and outdoor recreational and educational activities gearing them to the needs of various age groups
Assists in all activities, maintains a positive and inclusive approach with all assigned participants
Plans and assists in the daily preparation for the camp day; sets up a takes down equipment before and after summer camp activities occur
Addresses behavioral issues when needed
Facilitates and encourages participation in camp activates
Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the camp program
Communicates clearly and effectively in written and verbal methods with supervisor, parents, and children
Informs supervisor when in need of any equipment and/or resources for activities
Ensures all safety procedures and protocols are being followed by all summer camp participants
Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance; attends camp counselor meetings when required
Supervises campers and ensures their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being
Models good behavior for campers as it relates to sportsmanship, manners, and respectfulness
Interacts with parents in a professional and polite manner
Reports camper and parent complaints to supervisor as required
Completes other tasks and duties as assigned, including potentially teaching a full dance class to the campers
Professional Requirements:
Self-motivated, with excellent communication and customer service skills
Punctual, reliable, organized, and responsible
Keeps management informed of program and facility needs
Ensures that safety standards are met, and that department and facility policies are adhered to
Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
General mobility including but not limited to walking, kneeling, and standing for long period of times
Experience teaching variation(s) of Dance
Schedule:
11am – 4pm weekdays from 6/16 – 6/27, 2025
8am – 12pm weekdays from 7/7 – 7/8, 2025
11am – 4pm weekdays from 8/4 – 8/15, 2025
Potential for more hours if it is deemed necessary
Hourly Rate: $18.00
