What you'll be doing
The US Data Management Office is responsible for establishing data as a strategic asset for CIBC US Region, further enhancing data governance, building out our data and analytic capabilities, and developing the US Region data management strategy. The Data Acquisition Specialist will be a technically sophisticated and detail-oriented individual that can turn data into information, information into insights and insights into business decisions. The ideal candidate will bring a variety of skills such as general business acumen, a very analytical mindset, an aptitude for technology, and the ability to present findings concisely. The incumbent will work within our US Data Management Office reporting to the Lead Data Acquisition Analyst, US Region, and will be supporting the execution of the US Data Strategy initiative. This position will focus on different areas within Data Management, including Data Quality and Production Support.

How you'll succeed
Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to understand the purpose of data collected, aiming to address business challenges through rigorous data analysis and experimentation. Engage in thoughtful and productive conversations with the business owners before and during requirements gathering. Escalate issues to leadership while proposing effective solutions. Showcase a proven ability to drive consensus across business and technical teams during design, development, testing and implementation with an ability to quickly build understanding and ownership of complex data patterns and relationships across multiple systems and databases. Work closely with business users and end-users to answer questions related to data usage, availability, and best practices, providing guidance and support as needed. Support and mentor team members, fostering a collaboration environment and encouraging professional development with the team
Data Acquisition/Modelling/Visualization: Execute data acquisition tasks related to the setup and management of identified data sources to feed our central data hub repository. Perform user acceptance testing, including creating test cases, logging bugs, independently follow up on issues to ensure quality and functionality. Ensure documentation of data and processes is maintained in a timely manner and is appropriate for the intended audience. Develop a comprehensive understanding of business-related data and apply analytic knowledge to high-priority challenges across all functional areas
Organizational Skills: You will bring a variety of skills, including excellent organizational and project management skills, be proactive in solving problems, be able to work independently and part of a team and be comfortable communicating with many different levels of employees across the organization.
Data Expertise: Become an expert on the data available in the central data hub repository for reporting purposes, enabling informed decision-making across the organization.
Communication: Your communication is compelling, and conversational. You relentlessly cut through the clutter to get to the core message. Monitor monthly Production releases and ensure any data bugs are being thoroughly tested with results documented
Who you are
You demonstrate experience in. Data Analysis (5-7 years), preferably in the Financial Services industry with knowledge on commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within Data Analytics, Data Governance, and Business Intelligence. You have strong experience of Data Modeling concepts and proficiency in utilizing data modeling tools to create visual representation of the models. Strong ability to debug and test SQL scripts, ensuring data accuracy and integrity. You can demonstrate experience in commonly used Business Intelligence tools, e.g. Alteryx, SQL, Power BI, or other similar tools. You demonstrated experience in developing complex solutions based on business requirements and effectively translating them into functional specifications and possess a strong passion for data, complemented by highly developed critical reasoning skills and a keen interest in understanding the underlying "why" behind data insights.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $83,100-$115,400 based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
