Our unit, Data Intelligence, is at the center of all other units in the company facilitating data-driven decision making. We're looking for a Data analyst who will provide analytical consultancy to our auction and ranking teams, with the goal to improve the efficiency of our two-sided marketplace. In this role, you'll work with people of diverse skill sets, such as data analysts, data scientists, data engineers, and product owners. Your analytical insights will have a direct impact on strategic decisions about the design of our marketplace and ML algorithms, driving satisfaction of our partners and users as well as revenue growth for trivago. How you’ll make an impact:
• Perform exploratory data analyses to find, quantify, and present opportunities to increase the monetization of our marketplace
• Develop, maintain, and visualize clear and actionable KPIs to monitor the health of our marketplace and the efficiency of our auction and ranking algorithms
• Translate business problems into analytical tasks and deliver actionable insights that shape our marketplace strategy and challenge the status quo
• Design, conduct, and analyze A/B tests to validate hypotheses and propose evidence-based improvements to our product managers
• Proactively share your conclusions and educate stakeholders on interpreting and analyzing results, tailoring your communication to the audience
What you'll need to thrive:
• Proven minimum of 4 years' work experience as a Data Analyst or similar role with focus on statistics, data exploration, and visualization
• Analytical skills with the ability to draw conclusions from significant amounts of data with a keen eye for detail to create actionable insights
• Solid statistical background and experience in conducting hypothesis testing and A/B analysis
• Excellent knowledge of data querying and transformation (SQL) and at least one programming language, preferably R or Python
• Experience with big data technologies such as Big Query
• Ability to prioritize effectively and work independently in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
• Proactive communication skills for dealing with non-technical stakeholders in a clear and straightforward way
Stand out with:
• Being comfortable using dashboarding tools like Tableau and Looker
• Experience in data orchestration tools like Airflow
• Master’s or Ph.D. in statistics, mathematics, or related fields
• Background and/or experience in economics and econometrics
• Understanding of auction theory or causal inference
