The Monitoring Specialist role is an overnight role responsible for the monitoring, analysis, and response to alarms and issues critical for SIG technology and our trading business. The monitoring responsibilities will be in diverse areas throughout the SIG enterprise. In this role you will monitor the enterprise technology, WAN, ready for business applications, Critical Facilities Infrastructure, and other off-hours processes that are critical to our business. Using both proprietary and third party tools such as Nagios and Ganglia, the monitoring specialist will respond to and analyze each issue and respond via escalation procedures and coordination with on call teams.
The current opening is on our overnight shift, working 4 days per week from 8:00pm to 6:00am.
What you will do:
Working with the monitoring tools and processes, your main focus will be the timely analysis and response to alerts and issues that arise in the overnight shiftRespond to all alerts and issues as defined in the escalation processes and SOP'sSupport the critical IT provisioning processesEffectively communicate the issue and respond per the defined process Follow up and document all issues and note current status, open and pending items, and prepare reports for incoming teamsWork with technology teams to create and modify monitoring documentation and processes Communicate externally with vendors in the escalation pathExecute scripted checks and processes to troubleshoot and resolve issuesWhat we're looking for
2+ years of experience with any of the following operating systems and hardware (Arista, Cisco, Windows, and/or Linux)Previous exposure to monitoring applications such as Nagios, Ganglia, WebCtrl, Enterprise Job Scheduling, and Backup SoftwareFamiliarity with FTP, WAN, and technology hardwareStrong attention to detail and communication skillsAbility to troubleshoot systems and applications in a timely manner requiredUnderstanding of critical IT facilities infrastructure and structured cablingUnderstanding of technology documentation and SOPsUnderstanding of process automation and workflow building utilizing basic scripting
