Data Center Technician/Field Analyst

Description
Schedules EDC work load for building(s) for which the field technician is responsible
-Schedules movers to coordinate movement of Equipment between rooms, floors, and buildings
-Translates IT requests and vendor requests into work orders
-Reviews all outstanding scope requests (Tickets) on a daily basis
-Orders appropriate facilities work
-Performs server configurations v
-Performs Equipment trouble shooting v
-Responsible for general health of Communication Rooms and storage rooms
-Assembles server Equipment for installation
-Verifies and tests all network connections and peripherals prior to handing off to clients
-Manages Equipment decommissions and re-locations to maximize cabinet space
-Initiates power requests with the infrastructure team
-Coordinates work requests with electrical contractor to ensure all Service Levels are met
-Provides detailed estimates of assigned projects, documents requirements through direct communication with other members of IT or Corporate Services as well as interpretation of schematics and drawings
-Responsible for the coordination of trade, material ordering and delivery schedules to ensure quality installation
-Monitors environmental conditions and cleanliness of technology spaces
-Supports building power downs
-Provides post-mortem reports of all troubleshooting and break fix activity
-Provides on call support when required
-Provides data center escort to IT vendors without badges
-Support Property Management Office with preventative maintenance activities including Power downs and Infrared Scans
-Manages installation requests from initiation to closure
-Allocates rack position for Equipment installation
-Accepts delivery of Equipment from staging
-Co-ordinates scheduling of Equipment and delivery of Equipment to installation location. Tests all connections and makes all final connections not made by electricians
-Labels all Equipment front and rear
-Performs walk thru with Communication Room Group cabling group as required to assist installations
-Prepares customer turnover package and performs turnover walkthrough's with customers
-Acts as on-site contract for vendor walk through for Communications Rooms
-Supports Equipment "go live" for IT Business Units
-Accepts all delivered circuits. Supports, troubleshoots and perform break fix work in conjunction with Communication Room Group, vendor and customers
-Develop Method of Procedures (MOP) for single mode fiber installs
-Performs quality assurances tests according to specifications
-Updates the various inventory databases each time a device is visited. Performs audits and inventories of Equipment in Communication Room
Updating the databases noted as required
-ClearEdge I RiT PatchView, AMPO WQT, Storage Inventory Database, RackTracker (NA DC Cabinet Inventory), ESP (Enterprise Server Portfolio)
Requirements • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Data Center Technician/Field Analyst or in a similar role
• Proficiency in Fiber Optics installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
• Experience in working with Cisco Routers setup and configuration
• Familiarity with Router Switches, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
• Demonstrated experience in handling Physical Servers in a data center environment
• Proficient in Copper Cabling, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
• Skilled in Network Cabling, ensuring efficient data transmission within the network Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.®
