At AECOM, we are currently recruiting for a Data Centre Technical Design Lead  to join us in one of our Irish or UK offices.

Here’s what you’ll do: 

Your day-to-day will include but not be limited to the following tasks and responsibilities;

We are a multidisciplinary team working with Data Centre clients across both Hyperscale and Colocation and also Enterprise on projects across Europe. These projects are led from our specialist data centre team based in the UK in conjunction with our local teams across Europe who ensure localisation and permitting delivery, but also other global design teams providing resource and capability to the projects.

We are seeking a someone with a strong technical background in the DC sector who can lead multi-disciplinary architectural and engineering projects at a Technical Design Lead level but also establish, build and maintain strong relationships with key clients both through successful project delivery but also through building a trusted Client Account Manager (CAM) approach.

This will require being across multiple projects at once and responsible for to identify potential issues and troubleshoot before they materialise, to ensure timely delivery of outputs to meet the clients demands. They must ensure the right level and capability of resource are deployed on a project, be involved in bidding and pricing of new opportunities, and ensure that those opportunities deliver to the as sold fees and margins. The role will need to understand the internal commercial and contractual governance for the key client/s projects, ensuring compliance to internal process, managing risk to AECOM and ensuring profitable delivery.

The location of the role is flexible within the UK/ Ireland however it will be important that it is local to one of our hubs of expertise – London, Dublin, Belfast and Manchester and the role will require travel within the UK&I and Europe.  

The candidate must be strong in multidisciplinary team collaboration and technical design content. They will ideally have a DC experience, with skills in design management, digital technologies, and design workflow. They will be expected to manage and take accountability for design activities and the production of design information across all DC disciplines and maintain the level of quality that is expected throughout these projects. They will have to manage this delivery to very demanding timelines and programmes with immovable deadlines.

You’ll be working closely with the multi-disciplinary design teams, clients, and contractors in the UK and Europe. Excellent communication skills are essential.

Job Responsibilities: 

Technical Design Lead on a portfolio of projects supporting Project Managers

Cohering a multidisciplinary Team of CSA & MEP sitting across UK&I and Europe

Responding to client requirements in a timely manner

Assisting bids commercially and technically for multi-disciplinary opportunities with key clients

Ensuring all internal governance is followed both at bid stage and throughout the delivery of projects

Presenting to clients and prospective clients

Supporting Directors in this sector with internal management and strategy

General administrative and management duties appropriate to data centre team

 

Qualifications

Here’s what we’re looking for: 

•    Working and collaborating with a team sitting across UK&I and Europe

•    Fully Qualified Engineer (Chartered or equivalent)

•    Proven related technical experience

•    Recent experience of having worked on Data Centre projects.

•    Working knowledge of Permitting processes, Building Systems, Regulations, and construction types

•    IT literate, with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs.

•    Ability to manage a busy workload and deadlines
