Making Cents International
Making Cents International, under the USAID IDAMS activity, is seeking a Data Collector/Logistician to support an analysis in Jamaica focused on persons with disabilities. The primary objectives of the analysis are to:
• Identify barriers and needs associated with income-generating opportunities for Jamaica’s diverse disability community, particularly in rural areas.
• Develop actionable recommendations to enhance disability inclusion in current and future USAID activities.
• Document accessible methods to engage persons with diverse disabilities in co-creation activities.
• This analysis will inform and guide a co-creation process involving USAID staff, persons with disabilities, and organizations serving the disability community to develop new USAID programming for Jamaica’s disability community.
Two Data Collectors/Logisticians will assist with the planning and implementation of in-country research activities. The Data Collector/Logistician will contribute to data collection efforts, including conducting key informant interviews (KIIs) and focus group discussions (FGDs) with members of marginalized populations and USAID stakeholders. They will work under the guidance of the Deputy Team Leader and collaborate closely with the Assessment and Design Team Leader. The role will primarily be based in Kingston, with potential travel to rural areas as required.
Role and Tasks
The Data Collector/Logistician's key responsibilities include:
• Assist in reviewing background materials prior to data collection.
• Develop and manage the data collection schedule with the Deputy Team Leader.
• Identify and schedule interviews with stakeholders.
• Arrange interpreters, translators, and notetakers as needed.
• Conduct KIIs and FGDs with various participants identified by the analysis team.
• Produce field notes and, where appropriate, audio recordings.
• Manage transportation, lodging, and other logistics for the analysis team.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for logistics coordination.
• Reconcile payments for in-country expenses.
• Participate in team meetings and provide briefings as needed.
• Provide administrative and logistical support for seamless operations.
Proposed Level of Effort and Work Schedule
The maximum Level of Effort (LOE) for this role is 26 days. The assignment is anticipated to commence in February 2025, with the in-country research phase tentatively scheduled for completion by May 2025. The Data Collectors/Logisticians are expected to be fully available throughout the data collection phase.
Consultancy Requirements
• Resident of Jamaica
• Fluent in English
• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma and at least seven years of relevant experience
• Experience providing logistical, research, and administrative support for research activities in Jamaica
• Demonstrated experience conducting research with the disability community
• Previous experience working on international donor-funded projects
