BI Engineer

Providing seamless, digital services with robust ‘always on’ channels, and using our scalable Tech & Ops are two of ING global strategy enabling priorities. This is of such importance that a new global functional domain has been set-up: SRE & IT Resilience. We are responsible for structurally guarding the reliability & resilience of our IT and critical banking services.

The Role:

Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer reporting to the Product Owner of SRE Metrics & Reporting and hierarchically under SRE Global\Operational PracticesAnalysing requirements from SRE Subject Matter Experts on building reports and dashboards providing valuable insights in ING’s engineering activitiesBuilding-up knowledge on the required data sources and make these easily reusable by other BI engineers, therefor we aim for a commitment to join the team for 1 to 2 years at leastBuilding and improving the product offering of these reports and dashboards together with existing teams in ING Tech owning an existing Data WarehouseResponsible for working with other teams in the SRE & IT Resilience organization to identify relevant data sources and design a sustainable process for data mining and data modellingFor more senior candidates, responsible for providing technical direction and mentoring to less experienced team members

The Responsibilities :

Establish a structure for analysing and actioning Engineering Intelligence data in order to improve and optimize ING’s IT Reliability and ResilienceCollaborate with IT stakeholders to define requirements, mappings, and data source profiling and transform them into innovative BI solutionsBuild high-performance algorithms, predictive models, and prototypesIntegrate up-and-coming data management and software engineering technologies into existing data structures.Research new uses for existing data.Employ an array of technological languages and tools to connect systems together or be willing to learn new scripting languages and methodsRecommend different ways to constantly improve data reliability and quality.Contributes to creation and support of BI development standards and best practices

Specifically:

You have a solid command of the English language, both spoken and writtenBachelor’s degree in computer science, software/computer engineering, applied mathematics, or statistics preferred. Equivalent experience ok, too.Experience as a data engineer or analystDemonstrable analytical skills and problem solving skills needed to manage multiple technical challenges simultaneously.You are capable of assessing new initiatives to determine the work effort and estimate complexityA thorough mastery of SQLHands-on expertise in Python programming (preferred, not required)You have the ability to present solutions and provide clear documentation of all steps, so that data sets are not only useable, but sustainableIntellectual curiosity to find new and unusual ways of how to solve data management issues.You have a continuous improvement mindset and some experience working in an Agile team or a squadYou are genuinely interested in and understand how colleagues use our products and servicesYou stay up-to-date on how the technology is changing and are able to problem solve together with IT and business colleagues
