Data Engineer
What You'll Do The Global Analytics & Insights (GAI) team is looking for a Data Engineer to development of the data infrastructure for Avalara's core data assets- empowering us with accurate, timely data to drive data backed decisions. As a Data Engineer, you will play an important role in designing, implementing and maintaining our data infrastructure using Snowflake, dbt (Data Build Tool), Python, Terraform and Airflow. The ideal candidate will have deep SQL experience, an understanding of modern cloud data stacks and technology. This individual contributor role requires an overlap of 2-3 hours of US West Coast Time (PST). Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data integrations to support efficient and reliable data ingestion, transformation, and loading Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS technologies Contribute to building analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics Apply best practices for data integrity, reliability, and scalability in the security data pipeline. Ensure that the data models. data pipeline complies with relevant development standards, compliance, and industry best practices. Work closely with data analyst teams, leadership, and engineering to design and implement solutions that measurably reduce risk in Avalara's cloud data environments.
