Do you excel at transforming raw data into actionable insights while fostering innovation and collaboration? At Bonterra, we are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team and drive the development of Insights, the analytics product in our strategic philanthropy division. Your expertise will be instrumental in designing scalable data models, building robust pipelines, and delivering analytics solutions that empower our nonprofit clients to make data-driven decisions. The ideal candidate will bring deep database knowledge, proficiency in tools like Looker and Snowflake, and a strong passion for enabling impactful, data-informed outcomes. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

What You Will Do:

Collaborate on Analytics Development: Design, develop, and maintain Insights, utilizing Looker, Python, DBT, and Snowflake to create reliable and impactful analytics solutions.

Design Scalable Data Models: Spearhead the creation of scalable, efficient, and accurate data models that meet the diverse reporting needs of nonprofit organizations.

Build and Optimize Data Pipelines: Develop robust, scalable pipelines using DBT, Airflow, or similar tools to transform raw data into actionable intelligence.

Solve Complex Data Challenges: Identify and resolve complex data-related challenges with innovative solutions that ensure data accuracy and integrity.

Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into analytics solutions that drive strategic goals.

Mentor and Grow Talent: Foster a collaborative team environment by mentoring colleagues and promoting best practices in data engineering and analytics.

Stay on the Cutting Edge: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and analytics trends to proactively recommend improvements and foster innovation.

Requirements:

3-5 years of experience in Data or Analytics Engineering, focusing on ELT, data modeling, and business intelligence solutions.

Proven ability to design and optimize data models for large-scale datasets, ensuring efficient storage and analysis.

Experience building scalable data pipelines using tools like DBT and Airflow.

Proficiency in Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or similar analytics tools, with exceptional knowledge of LookML preferred.

Strong problem-solving skills and debugging expertise, particularly in data-intensive applications.

Familiarity with Agile methodologies, with hands-on experience in Scrum or Kanban workflows.

Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly to diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong expertise in Python for data transformation and analytics tasks.

Demonstrated ability to create enterprise-grade solutions using Looker, QuickSight, Tableau, or similar tools.

Understanding of the unique data needs of nonprofit organizations and social good sectors.

A passion for staying updated with the latest advancements in data engineering, analytics, and business intelligence.

Compensation

The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. 

Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and in addition to benefits this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses/incentives, and equity. 

US Base Salary Range: $75,000 - $140,000

Please note that the compensation range and benefits specified in this job posting is applicable to candidates based in the United States. For international applicants, actual salary offers and benefit plans may vary based on the local market compensation standards and will be determined in accordance with regional considerations, including but not limited to applicable laws, cost of living, and industry norms.
