As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and optimisation of data pipelines and platforms, supporting clients across public and private sectors. This position also offers the opportunity to play a key role in data engineering initiatives, contributing to architectural decisions and best practices that shape the future of data management within CGI. Your insights and expertise will help drive innovation, ensuring our solutions remain cutting-edge and scalable to meet growing business demands.
Furthermore, you will work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into effective data solutions. Your role will be instrumental in building data-driven cultures across client organisations, helping them leverage analytics to drive better decision-making.
This role involves:
• Designing and building scalable data pipelines for real-time and batch processing.
• Optimising data storage, retrieval, and processing for efficiency and performance.
• Working with cross-functional teams, including Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and Business Analysts, to support data-driven decision-making.
• Implementing and maintaining cloud-based data solutions using AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Ensuring data governance, security, and compliance best practices are met.
• Utilising Agile methodologies to deliver high-quality solutions.
You will have ability with a range of the following skills and experience:
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, SQL, Scala, Spark-SQL).
• Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Hands-on knowledge of data pipeline tools (e.g., Airflow, Talend, Informatica, Matillion).
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, Cassandra, etc.).
• Understanding of big data tools (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
• Experience working in Agile development teams.
Desirable Skills
• Experience with Data Warehousing architectures.
• Experience building and optimising ‘big data’ data pipelines.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation (Jenkins, GitHub, Docker, Ansible, Kubernetes).
