Howmet Aerospace seeks an experienced, driven, self-starter to fill the role of Data Engineer. Successful candidates will have strong capabilities and demonstrated success in the following areas:
+ Collaborating closely with data scientists, data analysts, and IT counterparts to design the data pipelines required to fulfill the AI and analytical needs of a large manufacturing enterprise.
+ Modeling, building and optimizing complex scalable ETLs and data pipelines to grow and support on-premise and cloud based data warehouses and data lakes using SQL and Azure technologies.
+ Implementing processes and systems to ensure data quality and optimal pipeline and model performance over time.
+ Providing business analysts with support for data model and query design/tuning for tools such as Power BI and Python scripts.
Extensive interaction with functional and IT resources will be required making effective communication skills essential. The qualified candidate must be a self-starter capable of managing medium sized projects working either independently or participating in and/or leading a small team.
Primary Responsibilities:
+ Work directly with technical resources to understand the data sources within the business and with data scientists and analysts to understand how data needs to be shaped for analysis.
+ Pursue continuous learning consistent with technology changes and the businesses evolving needs for data and the tools and techniques used to analyze it.
+ Build and productionize data models, pipelines, and workflows to source, consolidate, clean, and structure data for ingestion into data warehouse and data lake environments and for use in data science and analytical applications.
+ Implement processes/systems to monitor and improve data quality and reliability.
+ Develop, test, tune, and/or redesign complex SQL queries to improve query performance and reliability.
+ Communicate and represent the businesses data strategy related to tools, security, standards, and processes.
Basic Qualifications:
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Microsoft SQL environment developing and tuning simple to complex queries.
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience with data warehousing and the associated processes and tools.
+ Bachelor’s degree in data management, data analytics, data science, computer science, business, information technology, or engineering.
+ At least 3 years of practical experience in one or more of the above disciplines.
+ Ability to travel up to 25%
+ This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
+ Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Demonstrated use of advanced SQL skills to build complex well-tuned queries to join and shape diverse datasets.
+ Knowledge and experience with sourcing, loading, transforming, and extracting data from star schema data warehouses.
+ Significant experience with the Microsoft BI Stack (SSIS, SSRS, and associated tools) in an on-premise data warehousing environment.
+ Demonstrated experience with the data load and storage, governance, data science, and analytical tools required to deploy a data lake and lakehouse in an Azure government cloud environment including ADLS, Databricks, ADF, Synapse, Purview, Kubernetes and various AI services.
+ Demonstrated experience with the techniques used to model data for analysis and the skills to implement and maintain the data pipelines to feed those models.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the interpersonal skills to effectively work across various business and IT functions.
+ Able to work equally well in a self-directed and/or team environment.
