Reinsurance Solutions Analytics offers clients industry-leading Catastrophe Management, Impact Forecasting, Rating Agency Practice, Product Development and Research, Actuarial & ReMetrica support. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ROLE: Working in the International Natural Catastrophe Research Team which consists of 30 people based in India, UK, Singapore, Japan, and Australia. Most of the team have a technical background in Natural Catastrophe Modelling and peril specialisms (Meteorologists, Hydrologists, Geologists and Structural Engineers) with proficiencies in data science and programming. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES : + Identify and extract data from multiple sources into a common format. + Design, develop and maintain robust and scalable data pipeline. + Implement data integration solutions to ingest and process large volumes of data from various sources including but not limited to climate data and various open-source data. + Perform data validation, testing, monitoring, data exploration and feature engineering. + Collaborate with Data Scientist, Data Analyst, and other team members to understand data needs and deliver solutions. + Develop and maintain data models, databases, and data warehouses. + Implement and maintain ETL processes. + Work with cloud-based data storages and processing services (e.g, AWS, Azure etc) + Support Aon reinsurance research team with their activities and develop novel products. + Become familiar with Aon’s internal workflow tools and integrate bespoke research workflows. + Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues. SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED : + Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role. + Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server). + Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, PySpark, Java, or Scala. + Experience with ETL tools and frameworks + Understanding of data warehousing concepts and best practices. + Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. + Excellent communication and collaboration skills. + Organised with an ability to manage multiple projects proficiently. + Willingness to understand Aon’s internal workflows and the research that the team undertakes.
