Data Engineer II (REMOTE)

SailPoint is seeking a Data Engineer II to work remotely in Mexico.

Responsibilities

The Data Engineer will primarily work in DBT modeling with our site and activity data to provide accessibility to our most important data

The Data Engineer will also support the movement and modeling of new data sources in DBT/GitHub

You will support other analytic and data science partners who are designing and developing applications/pipeline

Collaborate with software engineers and analysts in data collection and data usage to model analytics tables from raw format to useable fact tables

Build and maintain data warehouses and data marts

Configure DBT models to keep the cost per query down and query speeds high for the team

Qualifications

2-5 years of professional experience as a data engineer in a high-growth medium-sized company

At least 5 years of experiences with ETL modeling and scheduling with tools like DBT, Airflow, Databricks etc.

Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka

Strong experience with SQL, Python, and other data engineering technologies

Strong proficiency in using cloud data warehouse (Redshift,  Snowflake)

Hands-on knowledge and experience with common technologies used in software engineering such as bash, git and docker

Experience with data security and governance best practices

Preferred but not required: Bachelors or higher degree in Computer Science, Math or a related STEM field

In the first 30 Days you will:

Follow Product Analytics Onboarding and request access to tools and services.  

Connect with the DEPO team and get access set up for GitHub Repository

Contact Marcelo Herrera and get access set up for all Snowflake Instances

Work with the current data engineering team to get access to OpenSearch

In the first 90 Days you will:

Data Engineers should be set up and submitting code for approval to Product Analytics Snowflake via GitHub

Pull data via Python from OpenSearch and moving data to Snowflake

Take existing data structures from Tableau Prep and converting them to tables in Snowflake

By the end of the first year you will be:

Working regularly with analysts and engineers to understand the data needs for our analytic objectives and building those out in reporting schemas for more efficient analysis

Work with the DEPO team and other engineers to set up new data pipelines and validate new data sources for analytics purposes
