HOW A DATA ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Provide bug fixes, enhancements, and Graphical User Interface (GUI) improvements to applications to meet operational requirementsDevelop and modify application source code, in response to new requirements and requests for changeProvide enhancements to existing access controls and configurations, and monitor applications to meet operational requirementsDevelop and deploy software, including in cloud environmentsIntegrate externally developed code into core librariesInstall and configure application softwareEvaluate third party vendors and software partnersDesign and develop Representational State Transfer (REST) Application Program Interfaces (APls)Maintain design of software libraries, including the definition of module APIs, code organization, and compliance in coding standards. This work will emphasize modularity of the libraries, re-use of common code, clean interfaces between the subsystems and integrity of design.Provide ad-hoc user training to potential, new, and existing customersWork with the configuration manager to ensure the integration of externally developed software into core software librariesDevelop, as assigned, a wide range of software to run on the Sponsor's networks. The software libraries include but are not limited to audio/video, image processing algorithms, OS and file systems, and device driversAssist the Sponsor in developing specific standards, methods, or procedures to determine product quality release or release readinessAdhere to Configuration Management standards and practices for software and infrastructureConduct testing at all levels of the software development life cycle, to include regression testing, and adhere to strict testing procedureshas context menu

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or workExperience: 5+ years of related experienceRequired Technical Skills:ETLApplication DevelopmentAbility to work on both ETL tasks and application development projectsDesired Technical Skills:JavascriptAWS - cloud based applicationSNS topicsKubernetesJenkinsGitHubKnowledge of server operating systemsWindows, Linux, Distributed Computing, and Cloud infrastructure.Experience with the following languages: Java/J2EE, SQL, XML, XQuery, XPath, Python, Shell Scripting, JSON.Skills and abilities:Excellent organizational, coordination, interpersonal and team building skills.Strong problem-solving skills.Ability to comprehend database methodologies.Focus on continual process improvement with a proactive approach to problem solvingSecurity Clearance Level: TS/SCI with PolygraphLocation: Chantilly, VA - on customer siteUS Citizenship Required
