Data Governance Analyst
**Overview** HarperCollins Publishers is seeking an experienced Data Analyst specializing in Data Governance and Data Quality Management. The successful candidate will play a critical role in analyzing and improving data quality, defining standardizing schemas, supporting the implementation of data governance practices, and ensuring adherence to the organization’s data management framework. The ideal candidate should possess a solid understanding of data governance principles, data models & relationships, data quality standards, and data management best practices. This individual will analyze data to understand data relationships, develop specifications for standardized datasets, identify quality issues, ensure compliance with governance standards, and provide actionable insights to drive data-driven decision-making. The incumbent will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data owners, application owners, and data custodians to implement and maintain data quality and governance processes. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams are essential for this role. **Responsibilities** + Work with data owners and custodians to develop and implement data governance processes, standards, and procedures. + Develop and maintain **data models** , define standardized data schemas, and perform SQL-based data analysis including querying, cleaning, and transforming data to support governance and quality efforts. + Perform analysis to gain subject matter expertise for various data domains to document current data flows, identify data silos, data duplications, and inconsistencies, and recommend solutions for resolution. + Lead the data governance committee(s) of various domains to align data definitions and maintain common schemas. + Collaborate with data owners and other cross-functional teams to document data inventory, definitions, and data mappings for integrations and data quality rules. + Work with various technology groups to implement governance solutions and standards, controls, and validations in various source applications. + Develop and maintain data quality standards and metrics. + Monitor and ensure compliance with data governance policies and procedures. + Provide training and support to stakeholders on data governance policies and procedures. **Qualifications** + Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Processing, or a related field. + Minimum of 3 years of experience in data analysis, data management, business analysis, or related data field. + Strong understanding of data architecture, data modeling & normalization and database design with hands-on experience to write and run complex SQL queries. + Require proven experience in **data modeling** and a strong understanding of **MS SQL Server** , **Azure Cloud Data Storage platforms** , and advanced **Excel skills** for data analysis and reporting + Knowledge of metadata management tools and data catalogs for implementing governance policies and tracking data lineage, data ownership, and documenting glossary and definitions. + Understanding data integration and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools for ensuring data consistency and integrity across different systems and applications. + Familiarity with relevant technologies such as Big Query, Azure Synapse, Power BI, JIRA, Confluence, and Lucid Charts for process modeling among others. + Experience working in IT projects and strong knowledge of SDLC process. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills _HarperCollins Publishers is a company full of people who are passionate about books.
