Data Governance Lead

Currently, we are seeking a motivated, career and team-oriented Data Governance Lead in support of The Department of Defense (DoD). This position is remote.

Responsibilities:

Define and implement data governance policies specific to the DoD’s standards and requirementsIdentify and appoint data stewards within the project to manage data quality and complianceDevelop and enforce standards for data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timelinessImplement procedures for validating data used in enterprise architecture mapping to ensure it meets required standardsEnsure that all data governance practices comply with DoD regulations, including security protocols, data handling, and privacy laws (e.g., FISMA, NIST standards)Develop and enforce data access controls, encryption, and other security measures to protect sensitive defense dataWork closely with various DoD departments, IT teams, and other stakeholders to align data governance practices with organizational needs and objectivesEnsure clear communication channels for discussing data-related issues and requirements across different departmentsCreate and maintain an inventory of data sources relevant to the enterprise architecture projectOversee the integration of data from different sources, ensuring consistency and alignment with the enterprise architecture frameworkMaintain comprehensive documentation of data governance processes, policies, and proceduresDevelop and deliver regular reports on data governance metrics, compliance status, and risk assessments to senior defense officials and project stakeholdersOffer ongoing support to project teams on data governance issues, including best practices and problem resolutionIdentify and assess data-related risksDevelop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address potential data governance challengesOversee changes to data governance policies and procedures in response to evolving project needs or regulatory requirementsAssess the impact of changes on data quality, security, and complianceContinuously monitor data governance practices and performance, seeking opportunities for improvementRegularly update the data governance framework based on feedback, performance metrics, and changes in regulatory requirementsEnsure that data governance practices support interoperability between various DoD systems and architectures

Basic Qualifications:

Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman)Experience in large-scale, multi-phase programs or projects, preferably within DoDKnowledge of data governance policies, standards, and best practicesExperience in managing data quality and implementing data validation processesUnderstanding of DoD regulations and compliance requirements related to data (e.g., FISMA, NIST)Familiarity with data privacy laws and standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)Proficiency in data governance tools and technologies (e.g., data cataloging, data lineage tools)Knowledge of database management systems (DBMS) and data integration technologiesExperience in leading cross-functional teams and managing data-related projectsBachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data management or related technical degree plus and/or 5 years of comparable work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in large-scale, multi-phase programs or projects, preferably at enterprise levelActive data governance certifications such as Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)Active project management certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or similarExperience in a DoD or government environment is highly advantageousMaster’s degree in computer science, information systems, data management or related technical degree

Security Clearance Requirements:

US citizenship with current/active Secret clearance

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printerThe person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

The projected compensation range for this position is $111,400-$185,700. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
