The anticipated salary range for this role is between $158,000.00 and $198,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
**Role Objectives**
Data is a critical asset. As a data champion, the Compliance Data Governance Operations VP, is focused on measuring and improving data quality for Compliance processes. This individual reviews data control and data quality results, identifying and researching potential issues, meeting with stakeholders to identify root cause an achieve resolution. This individual guides data usage to ensure data issues are recorded, reported and resolved, compliance teams are informed and educated on issues and mentors junior team members. They partner with subject matter experts and technology teams to analyze the flow of data, the criteria that make the data fit for purpose, and the data ownership. This individual engages data consumers and data producers addressing the flow of data that drives Compliance processing.
This is a mid-level role in the Compliance Department Americas Division (CPAD) Data Governance team. This individual coordinates efforts to measure, report and improve data quality, as well as define and manage data elements to the data governance frameowrk. This individual addresses data quality management reviewing data controls results, logging data issues and implementing additional processes. The role supports all Compliance teams and interfaces heavily with Compliance SMEs, data Management, Technology Oversight (CoE) and key data owners throughout the Americas Division (AD).
**Responsibilities:**
+ Work closely with subject matter experts and technology teams to document data through its lifecycle identifying key data elements and their lineage.
+ Review existing data quality controls to identify gaps and document remediation plans.
+ Plan and execute data profiling. Review results and identify potential data issues for formal review.
+ Construct, test, and review data controls to support new processes and resolve newly identified data control gaps.
+ Review data control results to assure that all at issues are logged and addressed.
+ Work closely with subject matter experts, data provider and data consumers to expeditiously resolve potential issues.
+ Facilitate discussions with data providers and data consumers to establish data ownership and define reliable authoritative sources.
+ Document, maintain and report project plans to apply the data governance framework.
+ Create materials to support meeting and audit requests.
+ Escalate data issues as necessary; ensure issues are addressed and closed.
**Qualifications and Skills**
+ Require 7 - 10 years of comparable or relevant experience. Prefer 5+ years professional experience in the data governance space.
+ Require High school education or equivalent. Prefer BA/BS (Or relevant experience).
+ Knowledge of Compliance laws, rules, regulations, risks and typologies. BSA / AML is a plus.
+ Expertise with data governance methodology and experience how to measure data quality.
+ Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships with stakeholders; excellent oral communication and writing skills in interacting with non-executives, technology management, data owners and across business lines and controls functions.
+ Experience reviewing and implementing data controls. Experience measuring and assessing data quality to identify and remediate data controls gaps
+ Strong presentation skills with the ability to ask insightful questions, gain consensus, articulate options and solutions.
+ Experience with DQL or reporting tools sets. Excellent MS Excel and PowerPoint sills.
+ Strong skills writing requirements, test plans, and procedures, documenting completion and exceptions.
+ Able to work across multiple sources, synthesize results and present detailed validations.
+ Prior usage of data governance tools to manage data element, definitions and data lineage.
