Data Governance Specialist - Procurement

General Position Description: The Data Governance Specialist will lead the Procurement organization at Northern Trust in establishing and maintaining a quality framework for critical procurement data. This role will not only leverage common tools and governance practices to improve and monitor data across various procurement systems but also drive the strategic initiatives ensuring data integrity and compliance with data governance standards.

Minimum Requirements:

A degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.10+ years' experience in Data Quality/Governance, with a significant portion within the Financial Services Industry.Demonstrated leadership in managing data governance projects and teams.

Desired Competencies:

Strong ability to communicate effectively with executives and influence data governance strategies within enterprise data governance groups.Expertise in Master Data, Data Domains, and the mastering process, with a focus on customer and product data.Advanced proficiency in SQL, and familiarity with programming in Java.Mastery in reporting tools like Power BI and Tableau.Deep understanding of Data Models, Schemas, and DDLs.Proven track record in leading Data Warehouse projects and overseeing File Transmissions.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and oversee data governance standards, particularly in metadata and data quality, within the procurement organization.Manage and resolve complex challenges related to data definitions, taxonomy, and data quality for procurement data.Lead collaboration with procurement teams and Data Stewards to standardize business glossary terms and ensure data quality controls are effective.Oversee the analysis, querying, and manipulation of data according to defined business rules and procedures.Document and standardize data process flows and transformation rules and provide training to procurement partners and new team members.
