Sitting in the Data & Technology team within the Customer Team, the purpose of the Data Manager role is to drive continued commercial growth through the provision and execution of market leading data products. Reporting into the Head of Digital Analytics, the Data Manager is responsible for the production, delivery and performance of all audience led commercial activity. The DM will support sales in delivering highly targeted audience led campaigns for advertisers and manage the relationship with 3rd parties including the Data Management Platform.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Own ideation and delivery for Hearst’s audience led commercial data products.
Build, maintain and refine audience segments, ensuring consistency in taxonomy and consideration for use across the entire business. Develop bespoke and productised audience solutions for all commercial teams. Identify new data led opportunities for commercial to proactively take to market. Work with external advertisers to understand their target audiences and design effective online advertising campaigns using insights from our DMP. Provide training and collateral for the wider commercial teams. Regularly prepare reports and presentations, on campaign performance, insights, and recommendations for the commercial team and external partners. Remain current with online advertising trends, DMP capabilities, data privacy laws, and changes in the ad tech landscape to continuously improve campaign effectiveness.
Manage relationship and technical upkeep of the Data Management Platform.
Own and evolve the relationship with the DMP to ensure we get maximum commercial value.
Evolve the catalogue of Hearst Audience products.
Manage and expand Hearst's commercial data products by integrating our first-party data, and develop Hearst-wide strategies for first-party data collection that enhance advertiser support and boost campaign performance. Ensure all opportunities for data enrichment are flagged and explored.
Data Matching
Manage the Data Matching set up for new advertiser’s data via our partners including test mapping, data enhancement strategy, data modelling and preparing audience segments for activation along with KPI communication for ad operations. In addition, provide insights for campaigns for reporting and long-term optimisations and application for advertiser’s strategy. Preparing QBR decks for clients and presenting results.
Digital Analytics
Supporting data and insight initiatives that enable a deeper understanding of our users implicit and explicit actions across our ecosystems. Work with key stakeholders, to understand their goals, provide them with actionable insight and build reports for ongoing measurement. Provide support, training, and education to the wider business on how to use data to drive action, promoting a self-serve culture.
ABOUT YOU
Proven experience (3+ years) managing data in an online advertising context, preferably in a media or magazine company. In-depth knowledge of Data Management Platforms (DMPs), particularly Permutive. Solid understanding of Ad Serving Technology (GAM), programmatic advertising ecosystems, and audience segmentation techniques. Knowledge of data privacy laws and compliance regulations pertinent to online advertising. Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting data to inform business decisions. Proficiency in using analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Looker Studio).
