About the Role:

\n

A Data Operations Associate’s primary responsibility is to master our in-house developed Research Tool Suite (RTS), including the PitchBook DocReview Tool (PBDR), and support the high standards of data quality in PitchBook’s datasets. Leading the News Dataset, this role focuses on ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of data collection processes while contributing to workflow optimization and innovation.

The Data Operations team is responsible for the core of what we do as a company: delivering high quality data on the private markets to thousands of discerning customers. This is done through our various data collection processes consisting of web-based data scraping, entering of data from publicly available documents, web researching of hard-to-find information, and direct communication with executives, investors and advisors involved in transactions and fundraising. The News team specifically focuses on tracking real-time financial market events to ensure the most up-to-date and accurate reporting.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

\n\nFocus on building best-in-class database that provides transparency across VC, PE, and M&A markets \nLeverage our in-house database, business intelligence reports and other technology-based tools to ensure that proprietary data is audited and added to the PitchBook Platform efficiently while adhering to complex research tracking methodologies to ensure that data is of the utmost quality  \nConsistently provide quality customer service and respond to requests from internal and external customers daily \nProvide training and ramping support to new members of the team, both locally and abroad\nGather team feedback and utilize PowerBI reports to identify root causes of systemic data problems and drive operational, methodology, and RTS Database improvements \nRegularly collaborate with Secondary team and the broader Data Operations department to develop and improve processes, tools, and methodologies; identifying opportunities to improve upon the core quality metrics (comprehensiveness, accuracy, timeliness)\nWork closely with our Data Operations team in Mumbai to achieve profile production targets. This relationship includes auditing the Mumbai team’s work as well as joining calls to share best practices and process improvement ideas\nCommunicate effectively and efficiently with your team and other stakeholders to provide updates on project progress, address roadblocks, and celebrate wins\nAssist senior members of the Data Operations department on the execution of strategic initiatives and achieving operational goals\nSupport the vision and values of the company by setting an example and demonstrating desired behaviors\n\n

Skills and Qualifications:

\n\nA bachelor’s degree required  \n1 – 2 years of work experience, including any internship experience \nSQL proficiency required\nAdvanced Excel analysis skills required\nExemplary verbal and written communication skills; comfortable to engage a diverse array of audiences\nAbility to operate with a strong sense of urgency and deliver results  \nSelf-motivated, goal-oriented attitude and can work effectively as an individual or as part of a team  \nInterest in financial markets or services, particularly private equity and venture capital \nAnalytical and process-oriented with a dedication to continuous improvement \nAbility to problem solve and use judgment to make decisions within ambiguous research situations  \nApproach each task with an entrepreneurial spirit and intellectual curiosity  \nStrong organization skills with attention to detail  \nProficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including in-depth knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily   \n\n

Compensation

\n\nAnnual base salary: $67,000\nTarget annual bonus percentage: 7.5%\n\n

Working Conditions:

\n

We believe our business and our culture are strongest when we work together in person. We also know that it’s helpful to have some flexibility to work remotely. Most roles work in the office 3+ days/week, and some are expected to work in the office 4-5 days/week. The current expectation for this role is that you are working in the office 3+ days/week and that you are in the office full-time during the training period, for which the length varies by role. During an initial phone screen, the team will discuss expectations for this specific position.

The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
