Bruker is seeking an experienced Data Privacy Counsel to join its Privacy Team. Reporting to the Chief Privacy Officer, this role involves close collaboration with other team members across all Bruker businesses and regions. The successful candidate will build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders in a matrixed environment and have experience in a similar multinational business setting. The Data Privacy Counsel will act as a trusted business advisor, passionate about data privacy and artificial intelligence, exercising sound legal and commercial judgment, and displaying a strong team spirit and work ethic. The position is open to candidates in the EU. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining remote work with regular in-office presence at one of our designated locations.

Responsibilities Work with the Chief Privacy Officer and Bruker’s Privacy Team and collaborate with business core functions to ensure compliance with data privacy and AI obligations, helping to overcome the challenges of the ever-changing privacy and AI regulatory landscape.Support the development of new data privacy-compliant instruments and services with privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default approaches, including advising on scientific studies involving human samples, privacy-related issues with material transfer agreements, and development of in vitro diagnostic medical devices.Stay current with global data privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, FAPD, DPDPA, PIPL, and their data transfer requirements.Support the Privacy Team in developing and updating policies, guidelines, SOPs, and training programs in response to legal and regulatory changes, both in the privacy and AI fields.Support data protection impact assessments, data processing agreements negotiation, data mapping, and complex data subject access requests.Advise on data privacy issues related to mergers and acquisitions, including post-merger integration.Liaise with external Data Privacy Officers on privacy matters related to local data processing practices and initiatives.Liaise with sales, R&D, and other departments to respond to customer requests on data privacy matters related to our products and services.Facilitate security incident investigations and response efforts for incidents impacting personal data. Qualifications Law degree and appropriate certifications (e.g., issued by the IAPP) required.Track record of 5-7 years of experience practicing EU or global data privacy law in a multinational in-house legal department.Understanding of and keen interest in the evolving AI regulatory landscape.Ability to handle a challenging workload and lead by influence rather than direct authority.Strong analytical ability, sound business judgment, and a balanced approach to risk mitigation.Superior written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to clearly and accurately explain complex privacy issues to a non-privacy audience.Highly adaptable and resilient in the face of competing priorities and change.Flexibility – able to balance need for process in a public company with an entrepreneurial culture.An enthusiastic and passionate self-starter with a can-do, results-oriented attitude.Willingness to participate in all aspects of a transaction.Strong organizational and operational skills.Strong interpersonal skills and experience working across functions and geographies.Executive presence.Languages: Fluent in English, knowledge of additional EU languages is a plus.
