Our Team:
In the Commodities Data Team, we’re
responsible for on-boarding, modelling and maintaining data that are fit for
purpose for our clients. More than 320,000 business leaders rely on the real
time financial information available on the Bloomberg Professional Service. Our
products run on intelligence and insight provided by the Commodities Team. Our
team of analysts provide valuable data and insights to key decision makers
within the commodity markets.
We are responsible for the data management
of datasets across Power and Gas, Oil, Carbon, Agriculture and Metals. The team
provides relevant, timely, and accurate data to empower customers to drive
their analysis of commodity markets, both pricing and fundamentals.
The Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a
highly motivated individual to join our team as a Data Product Owner, based in
our Sao Paolo office. As the Data Product Owner, you will proactively manage the
data strategy for agriculture and biofuels data that feeds into Bloomberg
products. You will use your market knowledge and data management skills to
maintain and evolve a business plan for this domain across various Bloomberg
platforms. You will collaborate with other departments such as Product and
Engineering and play a key role in empowering our clients to make well informed
business decisions. In addition, you will need to develop a proven
understanding of our core workflows and market coverage for both pricing and
fundamentals, focusing on the agriculture and biofuels
markets. You will also be involved in our data modelling efforts, expanding our
semantic data model and improving the discoverability of our content. This is a
great opportunity for someone that wants to combine commodity
subject-matter-expertise and technical skills to generate premium content for
our terminal users.
We’ll trust you to:
+ Be able to communicate andprioritize business needs and desired outcomes that guide the strategicdirection for the agriculture and biofuels data product.
+ Design and coordinate processesto ensure high quality of commodities data.
+ Have a strong understanding ofdata pipelines for the automated ingestion, preparation and storage of data.
+ Function as a central resourcewith other Bloomberg functions (e.g., product, engineering) as the commoditiesdata move through their lifecycle.
+ Ensure deliverables are wellunderstood, and in alignment with the overall business goals
+ Establish relationships withmarket participants and ensure client needs and trends are accounted for withinour product design
+ Strategically advise thoseinvolved in the design, modification and evaluation of all phases of a specificcommodities data set or group of data sets
+ Work with Sales to promote ourproduct to clients and understand and anticipate our client needs in ananalytical fashion
+ Stay on top of marketdevelopments and client needs and use your market knowledge to perform marketanalysis and generate premium content
+ Assist our world-renownedclient support help desk with raised client inquiries, and upskill our clientsthrough training
You’ll need to have:
+ Strong understanding of theagricultural and biofuels markets
+ 3+ years of experience withdata analysis using tools such as Python, SQL, Excel
+ 3+ years of demonstratedexperience working with commodities markets and products
+ Strong communication andinterpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technicalconcepts to diverse audiences.
+ Experience in data qualitymanagement that ensures data is ready to use, for example, developing proactivedata quality strategies, crafting metrics to measure data quality and reportingacross organizations
+ Strong interest in problemsolving particularly to modify and improve processes and workflows
+ Excellent written and verbalcommunication skills, especially when explaining technical processes andsolutions to business partners and management
+ Ability to influence others andlead change by communicating and coordinating with internal/external groups todefine project scope and meet project deliverables across the implementationprocess
+ Effective project managementskills and ability to prioritize tasks accordingly
+ Demonstrated continuous careergrowth within an organization
+ Fluency in both written andspoken English and Portuguese
+ Bachelor’s degree ordegree-equivalent qualifications
We’d love to see:
+ An advanced degree/masters/PhDin a STEM subject of Economics/Finance/Sustainability/Environmental Science
+ Experience using a scrum agileprocess
+ Work experience in data productowner/manager role or related fields such data quality, data modelling, and/ordata architecture
+ Experience working withsemantic data structures to model the commodities domain and drive theinteroperability across datasets
+ Understanding of large-scale,distributed, end-to-end systems.
+ Exposure to the BloombergTerminal and/or Enterprise data products.
+ Solid understanding of softwaredevelopment life cycle (SDLC) methodologies and project management bestpractices.
+ Understanding of DataGovernance and Data Management, supported by industry certifications (e.g. DAMACDMP, DCAM, etc.).
+ Knowledge of Graphingtechnologies and ontology languages and standards such as OWL, RDF, SKOS, andSHACL.
