ABOUT THE DIGITAL & DATA CAPABILITY TEAM:

The Global Foods R&D Digital & Data Capability Team leads the digital transformation of the Foods R&D organisation. We provide systems expertise and user solutions to assure data quality in our core ingredient and product specifications as well as in our experimental data. Increasingly, we are strengthening our capability in data engineering, visualisation, data analytics and data science to extract maximum value from the data we have. The capability team is working closely together with many teams across Foods R&D.

JOB PURPOSE:

Unilever is the place where you can bring your purpose to life with the work that you do – creating a better business and a better world. Within the Foods R&D Digital and Data Capability team, we are looking for a Data Quality Specialist.

The key features of this role are to (1) enhance good quality experimental data generation practices across Foods R&D and (2) to ensure the highest quality of experimental data capture in our systems. In this role you will liaise with scientists, project leaders, product developers as well as data scientists and analysts to build the requirements for experimental data collection and storage.

If you are someone with a strong expertise in capturing good quality experimental data and you have a passion to improve the way we innovate across teams with high business impact, then this role is just for you!

You will be a member of the Digital & Data Capability team, which is a diverse team (age, experience, background, nationalities) driving Digital Transformation in Unilever Foods R&D.

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

Ensure the accuracy and integrity of experimental data in key IT systems (e.g., Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), data lakes, and reporting tools) for new products developed by the Food R&D teams.

Collaborate with project leaders, product developers, and scientists to ensure comprehensive and accurate data capture, supporting the completeness and reliability of data.

Implement corrective actions for data inconsistencies, errors, and anomalies.

Maintain documentation of data quality procedures, findings, and improvement initiatives.

Provide insights and regular reports on data quality status and improvement initiatives to management.

Deliver training programs and communication messages for R&D staff on data quality and data capture best practices.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Experiences & Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in data management, data analytics, or a related field.

Affinity to experimental data.

Proven experience in data quality management, preferably in a laboratory or supply chain setting.

Understanding of data governance concepts and experience in implementing data quality and governance strategies.

Proven record of providing Training and Support.

Skills

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Knowledge of experimental data capture and information management systems (e.g. Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Structured Data Capture, Electronic Laboratory Notebook).

Proficiency in data management software and tools.

Capabilities

Fluent in English

Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills.

Critical thinking and flexibility to work effectively around technical and business constraints.

Ability to communicate data expertise work at different levels based on target audience:
stakeholders, experts, R&D community.

Ability to quickly adapt to changing requirements and priorities.
